Peter, Peter pumpkin eater,
Had a wife but couldn’t keep her;
He put her in a pumpkin shell
And there he kept her very well.
Peter, Peter pumpkin eater,
Had another and didn’t love her;
Peter learned to read and spell,
And then he loved her very well.

Can’t say I’d ever see an pumpkin eating African Elephant, but at the Maryland Zoo’s Penguins and Pumpkins event, indeed pumpkins were everywhere. Craftly taking pieces of pumpkin with his snout and placing it into the mouth, this elephant was having a blast.
Happy Halloween everyone!

oh wow having that trunk sure comes in handy huh!
It was the craziest thing ever to watch Andy. The three prongs on the end of the trunk are used like fingers. They are so masterful in using their trunk. Super cool.
now that I have gotta see! I always wondered how they are always so accurate with their nozzles 😊
Oh that’s a great image!
Thank you so much Sarah! A pretty unique experience.
I’ll say! Glad you caught it on camera to share with us 🙂
Ellie’s are just great…..looks like they were having a lot of fun
They were having a blast Mark ! Wish you could have been there. Super pumpkin party.
Well that was one minute of pure fun. Who knew elephants love pumpkins. Wonderful post.
That’s what I thought Beth. Surprised the heck out of me and I was lucky to be there when they were enjoying them.
So this is what they do with left over pumpkins! 🙂
You got it!
What a fabulous post, pics & videos are great fun together.
Elephants are stunning. It’s awesome to see them at work and the strategies they use to get to the good stuff. I still wish I could help them, perhaps I’m spoiled with my hands and fingers and all. Great pics. Thanks for sharing and the smiles you’ve brought to me with this. 😀
Isn’t it interesting how we have gifts that we never realize we have until looking at someone else that doesn’t have them? Each moment should be treasured, except the bad ones of course.
The pictures look painted and dreamy. 😉
