The humidity has broken, and the day was picture perfect. With blue skies and cooler temperatures. The first day of my riding clinic went really well, and four more days to go.
The weather was so perfect today that a long-overdue evening cruise on the bay was due.
When we reached the area where the Magothy River widens, we were greeted with a number of sailboats under sail. Listing and jibbing in the bay’s breeze.
It is Wednesday, we had never been out in the evening on Wednesdays during the summer. Wednesday nights are for sailboat races.
Even with the bright blue skies, the sunset was beautiful to watch. It is these moments that makes all of the hardships in life worthwhile. These are those moments that must be searched out and treasured.
At the end of the day, you should take every opportunity that comes your way.

Amazing pics….beautiful boats and sunsets
Thank you so much ! I was so happy I dragged hubby out for a boat ride. It was a glorious evening.
The boat/sunset photos are gorgeous! I was hoping for a shot of the flotilla running downwind towards you with their spinnakers set, which is my favorite way of photographing sailboats.
There was one spinnaker in the group. Hubby was driving, so it was hard to direct where to go. Besides it’s pretty impolite to get right into the middle of their course. Perhaps one day I’ll get this shot that you mention. How you describe it sounds stunning!
I used to shoot the sailboat races on Grand Traverse Bay from shore, I have some old faded Kodachrome slides of the races that I would love to duplicate now.
How fun that must have been. I bet your slide images are really impressive.
They used to be, I’m surprised at how much they faded over the years, but that gives me an excuse to go back to the places where I shot them, like Yellowstone!
beautiful photos…I have never been a sailor – I am landlocked with the sea 80 miles away…but one day when I retire I would like to live by the sea…and maybe buy a little boat…
So I see your retired life with a farm by the sea with horses in the front and a boat in the back. Sounds like heaven. 🙂
Wow. Sailboats and sunsets make a wonderful combination for gorgeous photos.
Thank you so much Mike ! I was so lucky they were out that night. So happy you enjoyed these.
beautiful sailing shots!
Thank you Rob. Appreciate your visit and comment and hope to see you back soon.
Wonderful pics, Emily. I want to be there. 🙂
Wish you could be here as well. It’s the best time of year here.
I served a term in Florida… the sailboat races were always spectacular. Thanks for the wonderful photos! Reminds me of the (Few) good memories from living down there. 🙂
I always keep forgetting you were in Florida for a spell. West coast right? I miss Florida, but not the humidity!
What a wonderful way to spend an evening! Especially love the 2nd from last shot… beautiful! 🙂
Thank you so much ! It truly was a magical evening. Now the heat’s cranked up bit again. That’s ok..it’s not winter. 🙂
