Today was supposed to be a day of hiking. But the spring air called me and I ventured off to a Industrial wasteland, turned protected natural area at Swan Creek Wetlands. The wetlands is located next to the Port of Baltimore’s dredge area under the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
The wind was brisk and the temperature was still cool. It didn’t stop me to enjoy the avian visitors that were present today. In particular this pair of Ospreys that were setting up house.
I realized that I’ve been having Β way too much fun capturing nature and sharing my discoveries with you. So attempts to find something more structural, something more textured, something different for you to enjoy today.
I was hoping the cherry blossoms would be blooming in Washington DC this week, but the continuing cold temperatures is delaying their floral display. Looks like next week will be Washington DC, Cherry Blossoms time. It’ll be good for this country mouse to get back into the city.

Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.

wonderful shots! those osprey look like they had quite a busy day!
Thank you so much Kate ! They certainly were making the most of the morning.
I heard somewhere that this is nationally walking day. Am I right?
Hummm. Haven’t heard that. I should have walked, but my breathing is a mess from a 3 month bout with bronchitis. Not good. π¦
Love the osprey photos. Beautiful.
Thank you so much. With practice I hope to get that ‘gallery’ shot. π
Amazing captures of those Osprey! It’s been cold here too but supposed to warm up by the weekend. Can’t wait to see your cherry blossom images! I like to get into the city too…it’s nice to change things up once in a while.
I agree..I’ve been stuck in the mud long enough. Time for some cement! π
I drove through the tidal basin today, nothing but buds
Thanks Ali ! It’s amazing isn’t it? Just watch, they’ll pop on Saturday.
Wonderful Osprey photos! I’ve seen them regularly the past week over the Shenandoah when I cross. I need to look for the nest when it warms up!
Oh how wonderful ! I had no idea they were in Shenandoah. BTW, cherry blossoms still not out today. I’m thinking I’ll head down on Monday.
I’m on deadline for my magazine until Wednesday, so I’m not sure I’ll be able to make a trip to D.C. until later next week. Keep me posted on your plans, though. You never know…I might get caught up!
The cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Seattle. I have video at http://seattletrekker.com/outdoor-seattle/washington-cherry-blossoms. Oddly enough it is turning out to be a beautiful spring in our local.
You really do have an amazing website Charlie. Thank you so much for this link Charlie. I’ve enjoyed it immensely.
An open aired nest? I wonder if that is enough for baby bird. Good shots of the bird and is that cracked earth?
Funny, all of the osprey nests are open like this. Somehow that is how they live.
I like the bridge photo that you sort of snuck in this one, but they’re all great!
HEHE..the idea was more that I snuck the bird in the post instead. π
Simply spectacular!
You are too kind Fatima. Thank you very much.
Amazing photos… π
You are such a dear Drake. Thank you.
Wonderful photographs.
I especially love the second one. Perfect timing!
Thanks Lisa ! I was thrilled with the Osprey shots too. π
Such interesting images…! Love that cracked earth. And of course the osprey lovely! π
That cracked earth has invoked some inquiry. Some didn’t recognize it for what it is. Thanks dear.
fantastic captures as usual ! and i love the texture of the dried mud
Thank you so much Will. I thought the cracked mud was pretty cool too.
Beautiful Captures – love your shots of birds of prey:) Have a Great Day!
Thank you so much Renee, Love Ospreys!
I wondered too about the nest being open, birds of prey must leave their own kind alone! Beautiful shots as always Emily π
But the elements ! Can you imagine? I guess being on top of the food chain has benefits after all.
Wow, great photography! Love the suspension bridge and Osprey.
