Remember the darling little chickadee babies born on May 21st?
Coming from small speckled eggs, four out of six hatched. And now they’re starting to look like their parents, and ready to launch.
I look forward for them to join the manor family and keep the garden chipper.
Oh my, I can’t believe how fast they’ve grown in only 9 days! That’s just miraculous. And they are so beautiful too! How exciting for you at the Manor and what wonderful news to us all! π
I were so thrilled to know that they grew successfully. But I can’t find them in the garden now. I know they’re there as mom and dad make a fuss when I go out there now.
Playing hide and seek? They are children after all! π
Chickadees are the one bird we can count on seeing and hearing no matter the time of year and yet I’ve never seen them nesting or known where they nest or seen any babes. This spring I have noticed one on our birdhouse, formerly occupied by wrens or bluebirds and I wondered … do chickadees like boxes? Are they nesting there? Perhaps they were. Great shots, thank you.
This is the first time I’ve had nesting chickadees visible to me. And this is blue bird box that they moved in to. Tree Swallows also like blue bird boxes. You never know what you’ll get, like a box of chocolates. π
Hope you are able to see them launch!!
Alas, they were there, then gone the next morn. Should have had my trail cam on it. I’ll try for the bluebirds though. Thanks Mary!
Aw so sorry that you weren’t able to see them take their solo flights. Okay, listen to this, second batch have already flown off and NOW, another mother has occupied the nest and is in the incubating stage. Can you believe it? We have a full-blown maternity ward here ~
You are truly blessed Mary. They certainly know they are safe with you to raise their darling families. It’s ok that I missed my babies take off. Perhaps next time.
awww there so cute… great post!
I know..little fuzzy wuzzy things. Thank you!
omg..already!? :O damn
I know..right? Now I can’t find them. Boo Hoo..but I know they’re still around as mom and dad fuss when I’m in the area.
They took off that fast? whatever happened to fall ‘n learn to fly up?
They may be hiding in the shrubbery knot garden right in front of the box. Plenty of hiding spots there.
mmm interesting..if they are under the bushes the parents are normally on the trees watching right? I notice that with crows, nasty buggers, they dive bomb people :O
I was being dive bombed yesterday at the barn by the barn swallows. They’re babies were busy being hungry. Funny..my horse didn’t care.
lol chances are your horse was laughing π
Yep..most likely! Have a wonderful day!
You too π
Wish them well from me!
You bet I will! Thank you so much for your well wishes.
My, how they’ve grown! Hope you manage to see their first flight. π
Oh how wonderful it must have been..but I missed it ! We can only see them in our dreams. Thank you!
