Hi ! My name is Fred and I’m not like the other squirrels. In fact, I’m an endangered Delmarva Fox Squirrel.
My cousins and I only number around 20,000 and live in the eastern shore of Maryland and Virginia. My favorite hangout spot is within the pine forests of Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge, Maryland.
If you’re lucky while on the wildlife loop, I may just stop nearby to say hello.
Cute! Looks a little like the Eastern Grey Squirrel.
He does, but bigger, and more silver. Also his ears are kind of funky.
Wow bigger then the eastern grey squirrel? They are pretty good size! LOL!
Very cute!! 🙂
I was so lucky to find him. Not many people do. I stopped 3 cars behind me when taking his picture. I left so they could have a chance. They all flew by him as if he was a regular squirrel. Their loss !
And your gain! *high five*!
Wow! He’s a fluffy guy. I love my boring normal (Eastern grey) squirrels here and know them by their unique markings. I think this guy would have stuck out as different to me. He’s a bit rounder! Ha ha!
As round as my squirrels are. They need some serious bird feed intervention. They’re so fat, they’re buddha squirrels
Very cool!! I’ve never seen one of these guys…. Here’s some love their way for their protection!!
Indeed, the conservation is working as they have been removed from the national endangered list this past winter. But still on the state one. It was a lucky viewing. Not many people get to see one.
