One cannot be at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park and not enjoy the Lions and Bears as well. Next to the Tiger pit were the two sister lions – Shera and Nababiep. These elegant cats enjoying the warm morning sun.
The morning sun was also putting the Sloth Bear to sleep. Sitting upright on the bamboo wall, this bear was truly luxuriating.
High in a tree, the Red Panda was tucked in for their mid-morning nap. How he thinks this is a comfortable bed escapes me.
Only the Giant Panda was quietly sniffing around, looking for a snack.
I don’t know about you, but a nap in the morning sounds like a great idea to me.

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.

They all look so relaxed in their environments don’t they? yeah, how on earth does the red panda not fall off :S
That was what I was wondering too Andy. Evidently they do this all the time and sleep there for hours on end. Amazing isn’t it?
What a nice life lol š
Lovely images again Emily and I like the quote too…….something I could do with taking on board.
Oh I hope you do Mark. It is so ingrained in Americans to be constantly doing that we’ve forgotten the beauty found in undoing.
Something about a warm, sunny day this time of year makes me want to nap too!
You would think we would want to nap more on cloudy days. But nope..those bright sunny days always make me nod off.
Friday fuzzy post? Ha! Great shots š
š Love your comment. Reminded me that I wanted to title it Fuzzy Wuzzy Was a Bear. š
Wonderful images of some beautiful animals! Love that quote too! š
You are so sweet. Thank you so much!
Animals are wiser than people when it comes to sleeping patterns. Apart from nocturnal animals, you don’t find any ‘working’ in the dark and defying nature like humans do. I just wish I could hibernate like bears do!
Hibernation, now that would be a wonderful concept. Just sleep the hard of winter away and wake up in beautiful spring. Thank you Fatima.
Beautiful animals! My favorite… the sleepy sloth bear š
