Thank you for indulging me with sharing my discoveries at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park from this week. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I would definitely hit the bird house to see what I could find.
There is a large aviary that I hadn’t been in before, and I wasn’t sure what I would find. When entering, there are three large pools for ducks. Two of them were being cleaned and only one was operational. Setting myself up to begin capturing the easiest ducks to catch, seems one of the staff members wanted to help me and scared more of them into my pond.
It was wonderful seeing such beautiful ducks and so close too. Makes me wish I had my own duck pond like this.
Hope you have some great plans for the weekend, so get out there and enjoy! Bella

We may have charted all the continents on the planet, and we may have discovered all the mammals, but that doesn’t mean that there’s nothing left to explore on Earth.

Your photos are amazing, I love the detail and color you captured.
Thank you so much Charlie ! Hope weather is more friendly to you in Seattle today than it is here on the eastern seaboard.
I see that you captured a wood duck laughing at me long distance, thanks! 😉 They seem to be the one species of bird that will not allow me to get a good shot of them. These are excellent, but I’ve learned to expect that from your photos.
Hey, he’s laughing at both of us. It took me MONTHS to even find one. Someone would find one and I’d be there within 30 minutes and he’d be gone. They are tough to get close to. Thank you so much Jerry.
A lovely collection. It made me think it would be fun to make a mosaic of square close-ups of their plumage. I have always liked smews. They are pretty but I think it’s the name that clinches it. Just so much fun to say!
Thanks Rachel. I had never heard of a Smew and it’s such an awesome name.
Those mandarin ducks are stunning! Their name makes me think of Chinese food tho 😦 I enjoy the animal posts a bunch… I’m sure you have more…. ? 🙂
I have a zillion Redhead duck pictures as they were swimming a lot in the water and it was so fun to watch. Talk about duck overload.
So cute!!! Excellent shots!!!!
Thank you so much Rexlin ! Great seeing you and hope all is well with you.
