An overcast afternoon led to a quick float down the river to see the sights. With drab light, drama was found within.
The Laughing gulls were watching with a careful eye.
And boats sat tied to their docks, quiet and serene.

What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter – a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue.

Good eye to spot these scenes Emily!
Another one of those days when the time was getting long. I popped on the boat for about 15 minutes and got these captures. Thanks Phil!
Beautiful pics and love the colorsplash!!
Thank you so much ! I’m playing in Lightroom 5 to see if I can do that type of edit. It’s easier than I thought.
I like the way that the gull is in focus, but even the piling it’s perched on is out of focus. When I try that shot, the piling is in focus, and the gull is’t. ๐
That is indeed a bit humorous as I have that problem all the time. Actually, this time both the piling and the bird were in focus. What I did was use the Radial Filter in LR 5 and softened the focus on everything except the bird. The house bugged me. ๐
Does the Radial Filter in LR 5 work in reverse? I could make use of that!
Yes it does ! You do the first radial filter to change outside of the circle. Then Ctrl, Alt Click on the dot and move it over a bit and it’ll make a second dot. Then click the Invert Mask and then you can edit what’s inside the box. Don’t freak out at first cuz it’ll bring in the settings you had for outside of the box. Just make your adjustments as wanted.
The seagull is my FAVORITE! Love the DOF!~
Thank you so very much Jasmine ! Appreciate your kind comment.
