Only he can understand what a farm is, what a country is,
who shall have sacrificed part of himself to his farm or country,
fought to save it, struggled to make it beautiful.
Only then will the love of farm or country fill his heart.

Beautiful Poem & Beautiful Capture – the simple things just make you smile:) Happy Friday!
Thank you so much Renee. Yes, we need more appreciation of the little things in life. Have a great weekend!
Beautiful, symbolizes strength with purpose. Wonderful ~
It does indeed seem to stand the test of time. I can see you paint this beautifully Mary.
Hmmmm, old structures (especially barns in the US) have so much history and therefore draw a lot of appeal and interest – it’s amazing how many people are drawn to them. Yes, I could see this as a painting for sure.
Thank you, that’s a wonderful compliment – appreciate it.
Nice – I just took some photos of barns in Vermont, too. They make beautiful subjects, don’t they?
Oh I bet you found some wonderful barns in Vermont to capture. Thank you so much for all your likes..now off to check your blog out. 🙂
Emily, this is truly beautiful with a lovely poem!
Thanks Judy ! I really like the poem as well. It truly encaptures the essence of a farmer’s life.
Wonderful photo and sentiment
Have a great weekend
Thank you so much Eunice. I hope you do as well.
🙂 making jewelry where it is WARM 🙂
Nice ! You know it’s cold when all of your outdoor clothing is a full load of laundry.
🙂 and I do not use a dryer so I hang them inside to dry all winter funny I have an arm full and JT runs to the door because the rest of the year I toss her Frsbee while I hang them on the line poor smart girl of mine 🙂
So beautiful! 🙂 🙂
Thank you so very much Maggie!
My grandparents on both sides were farmers. The closest I get to any farm these days is a display at Whole Foods. We have lost the greatest link to nature – our food supply. You have captured this in your photo and chosen quote. A profound insight.
How wonderful that you came from farming stock. That explains so much about your spirit. I really like the quote as well. It is so profound as you say.
Thank you – you almost make my day brilliant!!!
Beautiful poem!!!
Thank you so much Rexlin!
A rather unique barn, windows that high up on the ends, the ladders hanging outside, and the very thick slab it was built on. It’s a lovely barn, in an even more lovely setting, captured very well, and poem goes very well with it.
See..only you would notice such detail of this barn. Indeed the design is rather unusual. I wonder if it’s more of a work shed then. Thank you so much for your kind words.
Knowing your love of birds, I thought this was going to be a photograph of a snowy white barn owl. You have the power to surprise!!
With love
HAHA ! I can only dream of such a vision Corinne. That would be a lifetime achievement I believe. Thank you so much Corinne. Needless to say, hubby is never bored. 🙂
Beautiful barn, beautiful shot… 🙂
A large part of my childhood was as a “redneck” boy… ‘hahahahahaha’
Woo Hoo ! Got to love those rednecks! Thank you so much Drake.
Love this photo. Beautiful!
Thank you so very much, I’m so happy that you enjoyed this.
I love old barns. The textures and faded colors are captivating, especially in a snow scene. Beautiful.
We’re not getting too much of a winter this year, so what little snow we get I need to take advantage of it.
Your photography is always superb! You’re posts on AABC really stand out. As someone who has had a lot of experience with film, and after a long hiatus from photography, I’m trying to get up to speed in the digital world. Do you always shoot RAW mode? I just downloaded Light Room and am trying to get comfortable with it. Keep those fantastic photos coming!
Thank you so very much Paul. Yes, I do shoot exclusively in RAW now. I changed camera bodies this week, and forgot to switch this setting. When reviewing the photos to process, they were all jpgs, and so much photo data was missing. Shooting JPG, the camera does pre-editing of the image for you. RAW captures the full image and you have full control over the post processing. Something as an old film guy you’d appreciate. Lightroom is wonderful fun once you get the hang of it. Just start on the top and work your way down the sliders. The library has so many ways to catalogue your photos it’s amazing.
Beautiful composition Emily! And a lovely poem!
Thank you so much Madhu. As usual, I stopped along the side of a road, and a woman driver got annoyed because she had to veer off course a little. Silly me.
Wonderful scene Emily!
Thanks Phil ! We should always appreciate this passing Americana.
This is quite a lovely photograph!
Thank you so very much for your kind comment. I appreciate you stopping by and hope to see you back soon!
Sublime!!!
Are you missing snow yet?
