Eastern State Penitentiary

Walk with me if you dare, through the ghost halls of the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Notoriously known as ESP, this fourteen-acre, city wide block sized prison was built in 1829. Built like a castle fortress, at least sunny skies are present to guide us on […]

Musings

Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone’s face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love?’ These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love […]

Strength & Perseverance

The tiny hummingbird is so strong and fierce. This teeny thing travels thousands of miles, wings fluttering in a blur. Taking nearly 250 breaths per minute and a heart rates up to 1250 per minute. The smallest bird in North America, the Ruby Throated Hummingbird is fueling up […]

A Red Ball

The late summer day was hazy, even if the temperatures were cooling. The waters on the Chesapeake Bay were calmer than usual, with many summer revelers already returned to the marina for the evening. The Osprey had returned to their nests for the night, but staying ever vigilant […]

Giraffes!

It’s been one of my dreams to be able to travel to Africa and ride a horse galloping alongside beautiful Giraffes. It’s a long way from home and certainly costs a pretty penny. So to get my giraffe fix, a visit to the Maryland Zoo and the Giraffe […]

The Maryland Zoo

A wide variety of wildlife in wide open spaces are enjoyed up close and personal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I feel like I’m nothing without wildlife. They are the stars. I feel awkward without them. Bindi […]

A Fishy Day

This week has been a week of entertaining guests. A boat ride on the Chesapeake Bay was certainly appropriate and the weather cooperated. Stopping at a waterfront restaurant for takeout, it seems we weren’t the only ones looking for a seafood meal. A family had just returned from […]

More Miss Then Hits

I’ve been out shooting lightly the last few days. But getting more misses than hits. Tried to get the cat stalking some ducks, but that didn’t work out so well. The a Great Blue Heron caught my eye, but he was too far away. I also have been […]

Seal Cove Auto Museum

On Mount Desert Island in Maine in Seal Cove, located on the ‘quiet side’ of the island is the beautiful and unique Seal Cove Auto Museum. Featuring cars from the Brass Era of 1895 to 1917, this museum was born out of the personal collection of Richard Paine. […]

A Few Little Yard Birds

This afternoon I set up a new wildlife photographer blind in my driveway to stalk my yard birds. It really made them laugh. When I returned home I had seen a hummingbird in the garden, so I quickly refilled all the feeders and pulled out the Hummingbird feeder […]
