A flitter, a flutter and a chatter away, the Ruby Throated Hummingbird busily darts in and out of sight.
Bejeweled in emerald and ruby, its delicate elegance shimmering in the hot summer sun.
Sipping strongly from the sweet nectar, she suddenly zips off in rapid flight.
Wow….great shots Em 😊
Awwww..thank you so much Mark !
Those little buggers are tough to catch, and you’ve made it look easy!
After so much practice last year – you’ll really hate me. Got to the visitors center, set the camera settings and click, click, click. Got perfect shots right out of the gate. 🙂
Nah, I don’t hate you. I shoot wild hummers, not the tame ones, so I know that I’m going to have a tougher time getting good shots.
Superb shots, Emily. These birds aren’t easy to photograph. I’ve tried a few times, with little success. 🙂
Oh it takes so much practice. They are so small and so FAST !! Lots of cussing is usually involved.
Some really wonderful close up shots here. Nice depth of field too focusing all the action on the subject.
Appreciate your wonderful comment Daniel, and your generous observations.

Somehow I don’t think this post made it to the regular feed. Here’s hoping you can see it now. Bella
oh wow elegance is right :O
I love hummingbirds. Two moved in this week and I’m having so much fun watching them dart in and out.
I so envy you 🙂
Wow, so beautiful!
Thank you so much Lara. So thrilled that you liked these.

Thank you Sartenada! 🙂
Gorgeous and oh what a tongue lashing they could give! 🙂
I’ve been noticing that. They are certainly brave little birds. Thanks Joanne.
