Snow at Sandy Point Park

Being snowed in yesterday, I took the opportunity to continue working on merging my multiple hard drives into one main working drive. Finally getting all of my backed up images onto one 3 Terabyte drive, I imported them into Lightroom.

Total image count? 111,236. Yep..over one hundred thousand images. Who knows how many duplicates are included in there. Although I’d much rather have four copies of the same image instead of none of the image. The next task is to begin trudging through this huge file and delete the duplicates. Thankfully with Lightroom, other than it taking time, it is rather easy to do. Now just to commit an hour at least every other day for a few weeks should do it.

The sky cleared up today, and we had blue skies and temperatures in the mid 40’s. Practically summer after the winter we’ve had. I even saw a few people in shorts! It was a wonderful day for Valentine’s and to let those that are close to me to know that I care for them.

I headed off to Sandy Point Park in search of yet another wild goose. Did I find said goose? Of course not. But the snow on the beach was beautiful, and the views of the Chesapeake Bay were marvelous.

Hope you’re having a romantic and love filled day today. Will you be my Valentine? Bella

How did it happen that their lips came together? How does it happen that birds sing, that snow melts, that the rose unfolds, that the dawn whitens behind the stark shapes of trees on the quivering summit of the hill? A kiss, and all was said.

  1. I am in the process of consolidating to a 3TB drive too. A lot of work, but my 3 drive computer is leased for business and I am getting a replacement soon so the work had to be done. The photos will live on the new drive to be accessed from Lightroom like you are doing.

  2. Superb shots. It is a pain sorting out the old photos and cataloguing them but well worth it when it is done. That’s a lot of images!

  3. Hi Emily

Lovely to catch up with you again. How busy you are!! The weather is crazy isn’t it? The UK is being battered by unprecedented storms at present and huge swathes of the country are struggling with flooding. Ghastly!! Apparently what hits the US eastern seaboard finds its way over to us not long after, so hoping that we are not in for the great snow. Take care out there.

    • Now hearing from you is truly a gift. I was just thinking of you yesterday and how I needed to drop in and see how you have been doing. How have you been doing anyway? Miss you lots, and the weather has indeed been rather nuts.

  4. Gee, I better get busy, I only had 57 GB last year. AS for Hugo, who could possible argue, unless it were for Cervantes.

  5. WOW, 111+ photos! Crazy, crazy…Good luck with all of that. You remind me yet again to back up my own computer and one of these days I need to do some photo organizing myself. I know I’ve got loads of photos that should be deleted. More free space means more space to fill with new photos!

I like that these pictures show these “summer” grounds off-season. So many people get to see things in their prime time I really appreciate photos that showcase the off-time.

    • This is today’s reminder for you to back up your computer. Do it before you have too many files!

You’re right about enjoying these parks in winter. They are still beautiful, and even more so as they are quiet and peaceful.

      • You’re absolutely right. There a so many people in the parks during the rest of the year.

Thanks for the reminder! I’m going to do a back up tonight.

        Cheers!
