2013 Project 365

Project 365/322 – Big Birds at the National Zoo

It’s been a cold and rainy day today. Not exactly conducive to getting out and capturing a beautiful image. So indulge me if you will and please enjoy these images of the big birds at the zoo from last week’s visit.

Thanksgiving is just two days away, so I’ll be busy in the kitchen. At least this year I made sure all the shopping is done ahead of time so I can miss the crowds at the supermarket. An early stop at the Amish Market in the morning will bring a fresh turkey for the celebration.

Hopefully you will be surrounded by loving friends and family during this special American holiday. A day to stop and show thanks for the good fortune in our lives.

“It rains
And rains
And rains.
But there is a sky above the rain,
Nothing can rot the sky.
Earth has turned to mud. What of it?
The heart of the planet is made of fire, of ardent sun.
(from “A Rainy Day”)”
