Yesterday’s post of the Leather Repair shop made me think of Leather and Lace. Tucked around the manor are some lovely treasures that are worthy of showing.
Delicate etchings placed in sterling created by unknown artists. The craftsmanship and art work created in these pieces are only appreciated when looked upon closely.
Then the lace. The lovely and antique lace. Lace from over 100 years ago, delicately sewn and weaved by ladies long forgotten. This lace was lovingly collected by my aunt who lived until she was 104. When I obtained a number of her antique pieces of lace, she had carefully stored them in boxes with string tied around.
Each string had a story, each box had a story. Each piece of lace had a story. Memories held within the laced webbing of the linen.
Family heirlooms should always be treasured. In this day of materialism and need to acquire the newest “thing.” Whether it be technology or a new shirt. Those types of things are meaningless.
It’s these beautiful works of art that have been created to be treasured and to enhance a home. A home to be warmed with family and friends.
Decorate your home. It gives the illusion that your life is more interesting than it really is.
