There’s no better way to celebrate the best days of summer then with a great gallop in the field with friends.
This morning was the Hunter Pace at the barn. A secretly timed race that each team tries to get as close to the time as possible. Different levels are offered based on rider and horse experience.
Remy and I have done this for several years, but it’s been awhile since we’ve done it. So race today we did. We even got a bonus round as we were requested by the show managers to run the course to make sure all of the directional signs were in place. Remy and I had a blast running out in the field on a beautiful summer day.

Companions are we, enlivened by a mighty gallop quickly sliding a harsh straw basket of sea foam gathered astride the tide.

And it was a wonderful summer day too. Not too hot, not too much humidity. Fluffy clouds. Some people bring tents and a picnic and watch the competition. 🙂

It was a blast ! Remy wanted to run like a wild banshee, but I couldn’t let her as the other riders were more timid. Got to love my pony.
“here we value a spirited woman almost as much as we do a spirited horse.” Sounds as if one isn’t being ridden often enough.
