I was up late last night, playing with my iPad 2 when I really should be sleeping. But creativity knows no clock and I browsed around the App store looking for interesting photo editing apps. Somehow I stumbled across the Percolator app that transforms your image into mosaics.
For some reason my finger landed on the image above. A simple landscape image taken at Swan Creek Wetlands overlooking Key Bridge. I really liked what this app did with this image. Kind of channeling Monet in a way.
While running errands today something bright caught my eye. When do you ever see a car with a mohawk? Not just any car, but a bright orange VW bug !
What a great subject to play with fun apps to create cool looks with. Couldn’t wait to percolate this one.
But that wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to see what other cool apps I could find to transform this punk rocker car. Enter an artistic transformation app known as Glaze. A great and easy to use app to make your image painterly like.
But wait ! There is more ! What else can I do with this image? One mohawk car isn’t enough. I want two ! Download the Photo Reflection App by Big Blue Clip and you can do what I can do.
All of these apps are easy to use and have plenty of options to make the image the way you would like. There were a couple of other apps that I tried, which were a bust. Next time you’re up late at night, who knows what you may create.

Living creatively is really important to maintain throughout your life. And living creatively doesn’t mean only artistic creativity, although that’s part of it. It means being yourself, not just complying with the wishes of other people.

Great Capture and love how you play around with it and change it! Shock Top is good too – YUM! Happy Thursday:)
Hadn’t heard of Shock Top. Will definitely try it. Thanks Renee!
Cool – thanks for the links!
It’s my pleasure – hope you have fun too.
Very cool! I love the first one, it does look like a Monet!
Thank you Jo (hope I have that right). I was hoping to find a true Monet app, but what I was looking for doesn’t exist.
This is extraordinary. I’m going to check out this app!!!
It’s so very easy. You’ve got a smart phone right?
This is what I am afraid of: insomnia night playing IPad. Those are very creative. I just bought an IPad to bring for travel use.
Oh No…you’re in trouble now ! That’s why I bought mine too. Now it’s my bedtime reader, player, etc. π Good luck!
HAHAHAHA, I love these Emily! And I love your statement “creativity knows no clock.” This is so true.
You’re awesome Mark ! Any fun expeditions this weekend? This heat is crazy.
None this weekend. The heat is keeping me home to blog and clean the house so I will live vicariously through you. : )
Loving your playful experiments
Nothing like what you create though Ali. You’re a master at post processing.
Perfect timing! I just got an iPad and need to fill it up π love the bug. I hope one day to have one half as cool!
Oh wonderful ! You’ll have fun with your app. You may like http://photoephemeris.com/ also.
Try to get the PS express. I got Snapseed, but never use it. Also Camera Awesome +
Oh wow man, really groovy!
Please warn me the next time that you’re going to post photos like these, flashbacks from the sixties aren’t what I expect to find here. π
HAHAHA ! Now you know the truth of my past too then. π Next time I’ll make sure there is a warning label.
“hahaha” – agree “smells” like a Monet… “lol” π π
You’re so funny Drake. Thanks!
Late night fun is the best! You’ve inspired me to play with my phone’s photo settings … more to come. .:-)
Oh I can’t wait ! And with all the lovely photos you have.
Emily, given a choice, I like you (your photos) just the way you are. π
You are too sweet Tom. Thank you and hope you’re having a lovely weekend.
There is so much fun to be had with digital photography! That’s what my husband teaches and his students love it! I’ve had a bit of fun myself with it too and we like to make our own birthday and Christmas cards using those applications. Keep experimenting, but I must warn you it’s ‘a bit’ addictive!
Really? Your husband teaches digital photography? That’s wonderful. Where does he teach it at? I ended up liking the painting effect one the best. I’m not sure I’ll use the others too much, which is a good thing.
We both teach at Slindon College in West Sussex, southern UK. It’s a boarding school for boys aged 10-16. Hubby teaches the most popular subjects: Art, Photography and Graphic Design!
How cool is that? That is a great age to work with, although perhaps challenging when they become teenagers. So wonderful that you work at the same place. Same holidays. π
Yes, that’s why we travel so much. We have 8 weeks coming up at the beginning of July!
Just thought: here is a link http://www.slindoncollege.co.uk/home/4574506378 and I’ve just realised it says for boys between 8 and 16, but we don’t normally get them so young.
What an awesome place ! It’s beautiful and looks like so much fun. How lucky you are to mold these young minds.
It has its moments, but yes, it’s great fun and mighty interesting.
