That is one of the best still life photos that I have ever seen! I don’t know what the items are sitting on, but the swirls and lighting makes it appear that the jar is floating, exceptional!
Really? That is such an amazingly kind thing to say! It is the box that is designed for holding these Lady’s grooming tools. I believe it may be tiger wood. Thank you so much Jerry. π
What a really nice photo, Emily. It reminds me of my grandmother, she had such things in silver. But the photo is beautiful even without my association….
I bet she may have used these very things while making herself pretty. Those were the days when ladies were true ladies. I’m sure your grandmother was quite the Grand Dam.
Just an exquisite frame. Well done. Now, about those beauty implements, that one on the extreme right looks like sure torture π
LOL ! Now out of all the people here, I thought you would know what these are. The one on the right is for tying buttons and lacing. π
Wow this is stunning, perfect antique mood and infused lighting with your techniques. There’s a satiny feel to the scene and especially with the gorgeous sterling pieces.
These pieces are truly unique and hubby and I are having fun rediscovering the things in our home. So happy to share this with you. Although I can’t take full credit for the post-processing. This is a preset from Yellow Sky Actions. One click and voila !
Terrific effect Emily! Really pops!
Thank you so much Phil ! I’m having a lot of fun with this antique series. π
Really nice composition of those items. Sweet ‘retroesque’, cheers π
Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting Baryna. I’m really happy you enjoyed this photo. Hope to see you back soon! Bellla
Beautifully done. Love the sepia effect.
Thank you so very much !
Lovely shot and a great quote of the great Albert… π
It’s all about acting like a kid all the time.Right Drake?
Ah, just so utterly BEAUTIFUL!
You truly are so very kind Jo. Thank you so very much! Thrills me that you liked it so. π
No, I am not kind, your photographs are utterly lovely. Visual delights.
What a brilliant photo! So unique!
Thank you so much Judy ! Have you have a fabulous Valentine’s Day today? Seems to me your family should be paving your path with rose petals with the way you cook and bake for them.
Thank you very much Emily! I hope you had a wonderful day and evening π
Fabulous still life, Emily. You’ve done a great job with these beautiful items.
You are too kind Sylvia. I’ve had fun rediscovering these old memories. Now to think of another great idea. π
Wow, so beautiful and elegant! I’m also enjoying your journey into the antiques!
Thank you so much Tricia ! It was hard to try to top this one as these items are so unique. I appreciate your kind comment.
I so love these antique objects and the antique look of the images. A great series so far.
Thank you Donna ! Means a lot to hear that you enjoyed this series. Hope you’ve had a wonderful Valentines.
beautiful photo and equally beautiful silver ( looks like to me, anyway) ladies set.
Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting Robert. yes, it is indeed a silver ladies beauty kit. It is a large set which is truly unique. Thanks again, and hope to see you back soon!
Lovely still life. What beautiful pieces.
Beautiful still life. I love your use of light and dark. Yes I come from a time period that I know how or what these tools are for and how they are used. I am amazed you have access to a complete set and in such great condition.
It is amazing what you can find on ebay Charlie. We built a new master suite and my husband found this large set within a standing cabinet that he just had to have. It really is a special set and I showed only a small portion of it. Thanks for recognizing it and commenting.
I can remember having one of those, though mine was plastic, they were so lovely, as is your image.
