A Quick Stop at the Roadside Market

If you are like me, than perhaps you are busy in the kitchen, preparing a wonderful feast for family and friends for a day of Thanksgiving.

Back in 1621, I’m sure the last thing on the minds of Pilgrims and Indians alike is what America would look like today. Although they had the right idea, as their celebration lasted three days.Β To share in the autumn harvest, a quick stop by a roadside market near Sperryville, Virginia, and Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park provided fresh apples, apple cider and apple butter to share on the table.

So I’m off to start preparing the turkey for its roasting tomorrow.Β May everyone have a lovely evening and Happy Thanksgiving! Bella

  1. Love the roadside markets best!
Beautiful vivid colours in the pictures!

I have a baking explosion going on here for 2 days too. I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!!

    • Oh I wish I could have been a fly on the wall watching you creating baked masterpieces ! I hope you were able to capture some shots of them, so that we can enjoy them vicariously through you. Hope you had a fabulous day!

    • Hi Bente ! Either way, I hope today was a special day for you. Now the really crazy American holiday of SHOPPING is in order, starting now in the evening of Thanksgiving day.
Here, there is becoming more of an emphasis of shopping locally made produce, etc and it really does make such a difference. My fresh turkey from the Amish people was amazing!

    • Happy Thanksgiving to you too Sharon ! Alas, this year was a quiet one with just hubby and me, although that didn’t stop me from cooking the whole feast. I’m fighting a bug, so it was good not to have to entertain. You should have seen previous years though..wow ! Fine china, crystal glasses, linen napkins, champagne and a four-course meal. πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for such loving words. Emilyl

  2. Happy thanksgiving! Those pumpkins remind me of delicious pumpkin pie! How I wish I could have some right now…(not a high possibility in Egypt I think!) πŸ˜‰
