Women of the Sacred Valley – Part Three: Every day Women

I had once heard “f/8 and be there” for a camera setting for photojournalists. I’ve had to learn how to be quick on the draw to capture these fleeting every day moments of the lives of these women. The settings I used on my Canon 7D, 24-105mm IS 4.0 L lens were: Aperture Priority, f/8, Auto ISO, daylight white balance. A UV filter was added as well to the lens.

    • Thanks Bente ! I really appreciate you taking the time to see and comment on my posts. Your photos and stories are always so wonderful. I really do love this lens ! Even though I took a 70-300mm lens with me, it never left the bag. The 24-105mm lens is so versatile.

I’m also shooting just RAW now and trying to get a handle on how those files work versus jpg’s.

      Have a wonderful evening!

    • I do too Aaron ! Really, being there is the most important thing. Now to learn how to draw a camera out fast to take a shot when the opportunity arrives. Makes me want to practice being a Western Gun-slinger.

  1. ‘haha’ – “As tradition dictates, the Quechua woman frequently walks behind her husband” – one of my former businesspartners she always said “Behind every man with succes, stands a woman with overview” 😉

    “Walking up the Mountain”
It’s ALSO a great shot – how far away from home were they..?

I guess the way is pretty uphill…

    Thanks sharing with us… 😉

    • Hi Drake,

I’ll have to see if I have a pic of where they went to. They flew up the mountain side like jack rabbits and were at their home high up the mountain within 15 minutes. I was so jealous of them!

HAHA with the Woman quote – SO TRUE !! 🙂

  2. Looks like you got some really beautiful photos on your trip! Everything is always so colorful in other countries. Your pictures tell the story of their lives, which is very important! The “on her way” photo is great. I love the facial expression!
I very much enjoyed this series of photos!

    • Thank you Michael ! You happened to select the one photo that I also thought was outstanding. The lighting on her is just wonderful and what an interesting face she has. Thanks for your comments!
