In search of waterfalls that tumble down from the top of Shenandoah Mountains, I was looking for some that had an easier access than others. Along Skyline Drive there are several trails that head down the mountain along beautiful streams but can pose challenging treks for many.
One of the easier waterfalls to reach is Rose River Falls. Down a lovely fire road, these waterfalls are tucked in the forest and are situated below the better known Dark Hollow Falls. The trail for Dark Hollow Falls is short, but quite steep on the return.
A sense of peace can be found near Rose River Falls and well worth a visit.
