One cannot see a Warthog in the Serengeti without the song “Hakuna Matata” immediately entering one’s head. Actually a little shy, we were able to get some wonderful close views of a warthog family, babies in tow in the southern Serengeti.
A sturdy creature on the savannah, they can actually survive for months without water. Odd how they graze on their knees.

They are fascinating looking creatures.
I loved their tusks. And how they eat? Crazy! Like they’re praying and eating at the same time. Thanks Miriam.
Pretty amazing.
I love love love warthogs. How their tails stick straight up in the air when they run, how they get down on their elbows when eating, that crazy underbite…great highlight!
You know warthogs far better than I then. They really do have quite the personality. Thanks for the wonderful comment Leslie.
great pic
Thank you Mukul
Hakuna Matata indeed! 👍
LOL ! Yes !! I’ve been out of commission yet again Fatima. This time due to being bucked off a horse. On official rest…but you know how that goes. 🙂
Ouch! Nice to know you’re feeling better now.
Ugly…..but also very cute.
They do seem to have that ugly cute thing mastered don’t they Mark? Hey, I thought you were in Morocco.
Haha….that was last October Em 😊

Amazing photograph!
You are too much. Thank you Russell!
No, you are too much! It is a pleasure to follow and support your work! Keep it coming!
Such a darling Russell. Thank you, thank you!!
Oh neat! I had no idea they grazed on their elbows. They must have some heavy-duty calluses.
Me neither Myriam. Can you imagine how much that hurts? Thank you.
Ha! – now I have that song in my head – thanks for sharing the warthogs. Happy Day – Enjoy 🙂
You can count on me ! I’ll be heading to Florida in a few weeks, I’ll be thinking of you.
I have really enjoyed your Tanzania series, I went there over 14 years ago. Great memories and stories.
Oh I bet you got to enjoy Tanzania before it became too overrun with tourists. But the camps were certain stellar. I’m finally back to adding Africa pics. I think I needed a mental break after going through the 7,000 images I took. 🙂
Wow, that is alot of photos. I wasn’t really into photography then and only took about 120 photos from a basic film camera. I think that’s where it started. I have to say it didn’t seem too touristy then. But there are lots a large spaces. Unfortunately my negatives haven’t kept well. I look forward to seeing the rest of your photos.
