A Heron’s Breakfast

CC16may15-6759

Well good morning Mr. Great Blue Heron. Why don’t you just fly in for breakfast?

That certainly is a tasty fish you’ve got there. What are you going to do with it? Are you going to share?

  1. What great shots! They all are tack sharp down to the captured water beads falling from the fish and, oh how I wish I could create such vibrant color without getting a fake, oversaturated look. The first, showing the bird landing is my favorite but in sequence they tell the story. The bird’s reflection is the last photo adds a lot too. Again, what great shots!

    • Thank you so much for your generous and kind comment. The right light really helps with getting the colors nice and vibrant. I also post process all of my images in Lightroom which helps enhance colors in my images.

      Have a wonderful day!

  2. The guts of these birds has no difficulties dissolving bones…just adds a little more calcium to their diets! Emily besides being a superb photographer and naturalist, you are such a wonderful humanitarian to serve this heron such a super breakfast! πŸ™‚

  3. The landing looks like he was falling on his buttocks! I’m still laughing at what I perceived as a wipe out!

  4. Such a great series Emily. I particularly like the crazy one at the top! So nice to see interesting poses instead of the old heron on a log! πŸ™‚
