The temperatures have dropped dramatically, and with it the expected arrival of migrant ducks for the winter. A quick stop by my favorite local park proved to be a worthwhile visit. With mallards and a pair of Hooded Mergansers, the winter promises to be duck worthy.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

The duck season is throughout the year… 🙂 😉
Very well captured… 🙂
Indeed, and we can always count on Le Drake Noir. 🙂
Ah..the sign of the season changing, nice 🙂
If you saw the pile of clothes that I leave in the kitchen when coming back you’d be amazed. It’s enough to fill a whole laundry load.
oof, someone’s got a busy routine! :O
Nope..when out in the cold for hours, one has to layer up. I’ll have four-five layers on top, two on the bottom and shoes. Can you imagine? I’m like a little eskimo
Ah..the sign of the season changing, nice 🙂
Cute!!
My daughter and son-in-law are Oregon Duck fans -so it’s definitely duck season around here! 😉
Ok so the question is..do they watch Duck Dynasty? I love that show.
They actually don’t have TV (they listen to football on the radio or go to a pub to watch) so I doubt they’ve seen the show. I’ve never watched it either, but hear lots of people talk about it.
I love the colors in your photos.
Thank you so much Judy ! One can find color anywhere if they look for it. 🙂
Wet season, I have no choice but be a duck and let water run…
Oh your poor child. Hope you have your cute rain boots on.
web feet boots! cute enough 😛
Oh that sounds really funny !!
It’s always duck season if you hunt with a camera! Very nice shots by the way, did you bag your limit? 😉
One can never have too many ducks.
Beautiful photos, Emily. Love the Michael Caine quote. 🙂
Thanks Sylvia !
I wish I were more like a duck: I don’t do calm very well. 😦
I’ve had to learn how to calm well. Thanks to the horses, they rely on me to be a leader. I must be calm inside for them to feel safe. Great teachers of calmness. 🙂
That’s a very worthy reason to stay calm.
