Just earlier today, a friend and I were talking about some photos that were taken of us on Sunday. Both of us were unhappy with them because…well..we’re getting old. That youthful look that we had 20 years ago is long gone and middle age is starting to set in.
In creating today’s image I dug out an old fossil collection that I’ve had since I was young. Some of these were found in the Andes mountains of Bolivia and have stayed in the family.
So to put things into perspective, this beautiful Trilobite is between – get this – 230 toΒ 600 million years old!Β
From the Cambrian through the Permian period, of the Paleozoic era this Cambrian Trilobite is an extinct marine arthropod and are commonly found. Mostly likely bottom feeders and predators, this little bugger lived a really long time ago.
Sure puts things into perspective doesn’t it?

Forever Young
Out Of Order
1989
Lyrics:
May the good Lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
surround you when you’re far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you’d have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you’ll always stay
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven
with a prince or a vagabond
And may you never love in vain
and in my heart you will remain
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young
Forever Young
And when you finally fly away
I’ll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell
But whatever road you choose
I’m right behind you, win or lose
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young ,Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
For, Forever Young, Forever Young

Nice one, Emily. “Do not regret growing older. It’s a privilege denied to many. ” ~ unknown
That also is a great perspective as well. If only I had this wisdom when I was 20. Can you imagine the power?
Me too. *sigh*
I like to think of my age in the number of adventures and experiences I have had in living my life:) Plus I am just one BIG KID on the inside – ha! Happy Tuesday
What a great philosophy Renee. I need to learn from you. WOW..I’m so behind on my comments. Sorry. π¦
Of course we are forever young, like the trilobite. π
Younger generation – watch out !! Thanks Bente. π

This is the best of times! And I love being “forever young.”
I agree – this is indeed the best of times. Thank you so much Rebecca. Your words are always so inspiring.
You have an amazing way of bringing beauty to my day… π
Again..warm and fuzzies. I need them today. Thank you
Hmm. Some mornings I look a bit like that trilobite, and it only took me 48 years to get in that state!
LOL ! That is too funny Rachael. Somehow I find that hard to believe.
Ah, I wish I knew then what I know now… π
Me too !!
Too funny, Emily!! Cracked me up when you went from a picture of you and your friend to talking about fossils!!ππ. Very cool fossil and I so love that Rod Stewart song!! Have a great day!!
π So happy you got that bizarre connection. Sometimes I really wonder about my friend. My sister got the best of the collection which is a shame as she doesn’t truly appreciate them.
So there I was, about to make a comment on your trilobite posting, and on your choice of Rod Stewart, whose voice is pretty awesome, but I was listening to Stevie Nicks (goddess Stevie!!!!!! OMG, I could just fall over) at that precise time and then I received an email I had to answer, so am finally back and have forgotten what my comment was going to be. Maybe it was about you not being old at all, but was a very witty and quite clever response. I’m pretty sure that was it, actually.
You made me laugh so much with this comment and I think it’s absolutely brilliant! thanks Robert.
laughter is always good. π
This runs counter to evolutionary estimates of 300 million years for granite to form.6. Human Artifacts throughout the Geologic Column…Man-made artifacts – such as the hammer in Cretaceous rock, a human sandal print with trilobite in Cambrian rock, human footprints and a handprint in Cretaceous rock β point to the fact that all the supposed geologic periods actually occurred at the same time in the recent past.
I love how you’ve shared this information and appreciate this. I was using a really old book, so who knows what science has been discovered since it was printed.
Thanks, I needed that! One of my favorite songs, but I’m sure feeling my age today.
It’s all that wild hob nobbing you’ve been doing in the woods. Wild like a wolf.
