2013 Project 365

Project 365/181 – July is for Purple

It’s been raining so much in Maryland, that I’ve started to build an ark in my backyard. Although I’m not complaining too much as the flowers have been bursting at the seams with all the water. Even in the heat of July, the garden at the Manor continues to bring some natural beauty to the world.

The three great elemental sounds in nature are the sound of rain, the sound of wind in a primeval wood, and the sound of outer ocean on a beach.

  1. The heavens opened its doors letting lovely rains pour out – it’s fruitful juice kissed the earth and showered her with an abundance of brilliantly colored flowers. Beautiful photography.

  2. Good luck with the ark…;-) no seriously, lovely images and the droplets on the petals just add to the charm, lovely!!

  3. Your garden is full of such beautiful blooms! 🙂

You’re so right – one benefit of being rather waterlogged is the wonderful profusion of flowers! I don’t think my garden has ever looked so good in July before (usually it is utterly parched). That might just make the extra weeding and constant battles with mosquitoes worth it!

    • And even better Sheryl – NO WATERING !! The three days without rain and I’m back to watering all of my potted plants daily. Sigh.
Have you tried the corn stuff that you set down for weed prevention. It’s preen commercially. Really helps. But the mosquitoes, I fight them just as much as you do. 🙂
