In just moments, the day turns into night. The bright orange and red sun setting behind the mist, leaving the sky to the moon sliver. The waters cool and still with the surrounding life resting from the day.

To photograph is to hold one’s breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It’s at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy.

Beautiful shot of a gorgeous place I also love in Maine. I was going to do a Sunrise or Sunset too π
I would love to see it ! Will pop over to see what you’ve got. π
That’s about the perfect sunset shot, right down to the hint of fog along the shore in the distance!
Thank you so much Jerry. I must agree. This is one of my bests. I kept track of the weather patterns and the cloud formations and scouted out the best spot for a sunset shot. True magic. I had the sunset to myself.
Okay, but how did you get the moon to make a special guest appearance in a sunset?
It was serendipity my dear. Right place at the right time.
Beautiful (fleeting) colors, very well captured… π
Thank you so much Drake. I was fortunate to have witnessed such a beautiful sight.
So gorgeous!
Thank you so much Susan !
Breathtaking! The Maine coast is just stunning!
You’re so right. Maine is an amazing place and I get one more visit this year and off to different summer pastures next year.

It is truly my pleasure Will. I know you truly appreciate such a special moment.
Terrific Emily! Funny how fast a scene like that can change on you isn’t it? You blink and it looks different already.
It is so true. Odd thing about this sunset is that it lasted quite a bit. It was truly marvelous.
wow, that’s stunning emily!
Awww…(blushes) thank you so much Evi. You are too sweet.
This is an amazing photo! The sunset and waning moon in one scene – clearly defined. Aren’t you glad we can capture moments that are “fleeting.”
I was literally dancing up and down with joy with the sheer majestic beauty of this scene. I couldn’t believe my eyes.
And it shows in the photo!!! WOW
Thank you sweetie.
I like the way you have only 1/2 the picture with the sunset. Nice shot.
You are so kind Barbara. It truly did show the day turning into night. It was a glorious sky that night.
I could feel myself holding my breath gazing at that sunset. Sharon
Breathe out Sharon ! We don’t want you turning blue. π
lol! ok π
So wonderful to capture such a magical moment – beautiful shot! π
Thank you so much Sheryl. I was truly lucky to experience this glorious sunset. I think it’s the best one I’ve ever seen.
What a gorgeous sunset and yes a really great example of the concept fleeting.
Thank you so much Charlie. I had to scratch my head on this one and find a photo that really showed fleeting. I almost showed the glacier mountains of the Andes as they are starting to melt.
Perfection!
You are too kind Mary. Hope this is another one for inspiration.
I really love Maine sunsets!
Aren’t they amazing? Can’t wait to get back and see more.
Me too. Key West and Maine have the most amazing sunsets!
Beautiful, love the mist in the distance too π
Isn’t that just the coolest? I l love Maine in the summer with all the fog they get.
Great big sky, awesome.
It is truly glorious. Thanks Perpetua.
