Bet this is one place you’ve never been before.
I’ve got a large garden which requires truckloads of mulch every year. I used to have a professional landscaper provide the mulch who charged me the price of my first born.
Little did I know of this recycling place just up the road from my house that sells the mulch for a song.
Huge trees are laying around waiting to be crunched into a variety of mulches. Large machinery and tons of men with trucks.
Certainly not the usual place for this country mouse.
I love how resources can be reused and shared from one place to another.
Reduce, reuse, recycle.

Impressive, agree it’s the right way doing it… π
I never knew this place existed until a friend showed me. It’s a pretty cool place.
From Munch to Mulch. The 3Rs good one. Love the smell of mulch.
You really do make me laugh! I didn’t realize what I had done until you mentioned it..and the true meaning! Oh so true !! Get some old horse manure, compost it well and voila ! Black gold!
Emily — You’re quite the Scotsman(woman). Good idea to switch suppliers, help the environment and save money, too. I’d say you’ve got yourself a win-win situation going forward every spring. You’ve got what looks like a streaking effect from the tree branches up into the sky. Planned, or just the shortcomings of using a phone camera instead of your regular kit?
Hi Tom ! You are too kind about my resourcefulness.
For the photo effects. I edited this in the app Camera Awesome where you can add textures. This is an intended effect just for fun. π I’ve seen textures available for photoshop but have no idea how to use them.
Makes me wonder what people did before we developed huge oil guzzling machines to turn trees into mulch?
Umm..not use mulch! Either that or really good composted animal manure. Have to admit, the place has a unique smell.
I admire you resourcefulness…and your commitment to recycle!
If you only saw me garbage diving every day as hubby always throws away recyclables. After 12 years of being married to me, you would think he knew what to do.
I laughed out loud when I read that….keep up the good work!
I have been to recycle places many times, but don’t really need that amount of mulch. Now we need to see your garden, Emily!! π
LOL ! Ok then..I may indulge you in May when its in all its glory.
I have found that the arborists in my area have to pay recyclers to take the trees that they have cut down and have chipped into mulch. I have found by contacting them that they will drop it off for “free” so they don’t have to pay the fees. The one catch is that they will need to dump 20 to 40 cubic yards. This would be a truck load.
Wow, the fact that you even know that amazes me Charlie. My tree guy also charges me to remove and mulch trees as well. But never offers to bring the mulch back. Humm…..
So glad you recycle too! We use our local amenity tip regularly for all kinds of recycling, from garden waste to Christmas trees. Very little gets wasted in my house. We owe it to the planet.
