2013 Project 365

Project 365/87 Recycle

Bet this is one place you’ve never been before.

I’ve got a large garden which requires truckloads of mulch every year. I used to have a professional landscaper provide the mulch who charged me the price of my first born.

Little did I know of this recycling place just up the road from my house that sells the mulch for a song.

Huge trees are laying around waiting to be crunched into a variety of mulches. Large machinery and tons of men with trucks.

Certainly not the usual place for this country mouse.

I love how resources can be reused and shared from one place to another.

Reduce, reuse, recycle.

  1. Emily — You’re quite the Scotsman(woman). Good idea to switch suppliers, help the environment and save money, too. I’d say you’ve got yourself a win-win situation going forward every spring. You’ve got what looks like a streaking effect from the tree branches up into the sky. Planned, or just the shortcomings of using a phone camera instead of your regular kit?

    • Hi Tom ! You are too kind about my resourcefulness.

For the photo effects. I edited this in the app Camera Awesome where you can add textures. This is an intended effect just for fun. πŸ™‚ I’ve seen textures available for photoshop but have no idea how to use them.

  2. I have found that the arborists in my area have to pay recyclers to take the trees that they have cut down and have chipped into mulch. I have found by contacting them that they will drop it off for “free” so they don’t have to pay the fees. The one catch is that they will need to dump 20 to 40 cubic yards. This would be a truck load.

  3. So glad you recycle too! We use our local amenity tip regularly for all kinds of recycling, from garden waste to Christmas trees. Very little gets wasted in my house. We owe it to the planet.
