Owners of dogs will have noticed that,
if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection,
they will think you are God.
Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that,
if you provide them with food and water and affection,
they draw the conclusion that they are God.

Dogs live to serve you while you live to serve cats – ha! Love it:)
LOL ! Isn’t it the truth though?
Great quote… 😉
Very interesting photo of the collection, great idea… 🙂
I have so many more from my childhood. I had great fun pulling them out and looking at them again.
Oh wow that’s cool Emily!
I have a bunch of old marbles from the 50s and 60s around somewhere.
Well my goodness Phil ! Drag the out ! I would love to see them.
I love it! Love my kitties too!
I love mine also, but they do rule the roost. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I hope you come back soon! Bella
Purees – they were my favorites 🙂
I’ve never heard that term. Is that what they called those clay marbles? What an interesting name Maya. Thanks!
Purees are clear colored glass marbles. I don’t know if they really WERE rare but it seemed I always had to hunt/play harder to acquire them.
As for the clay marbles, I don’t know what they’re called. I’ve never even SEEN them before you posted your photo. Guess we both learned something 🙂
Oh interesting..I remember some amber colored marbles in the collection that I didn’t see. I’m guessing those are your purees. I learned that the swirled ones were handmade in Germany. Amazing what we learn due to this photography thing. 🙂
Very cool! 🙂 🙂
Thank you so much Maggie ! It’s been dreary this week and I can to put my creative hat on. Amazing what you can find around your house.
Great post! Love those old marbles…fond memories!
Thank you so much Tricia ! Now we’re starting to date ourselves. LOL ! Let’s not do that too often. 🙂
Love it!!
Thanks Judy ! Can’t wait to see what you’re cooking up for Valentines!
I always thought Christopher Hitchens was a keen observer of people and had a marvellous way with words but this is pure gold! Great study, Emily. 🙂
This just proves to me how little I know about these wonderful people that share such great life introspection. Thanks ! I loved the quote as well.
Great photo and quote, so true. -Steve
Thanks Steve ! Funny how cats rule, and dogs drool. 🙂
🙂 Very nice…
So happy you liked this Rexlin.
Those are some old marbles! I also love the quote from Christopher Hitchens, that’s probably one of the few things I would agree with him on, but he was a great intellect, and I have a good deal of respect for him.
I remember when I was child and each time I went to visit the grandparents, I’d run to the basement to find these toys that they kept for us. Great memories. I hadn’t heard of Hitchens until I started searching for a compatible quote. Thanks!
When I was a kid and visited the grandparents, instead of toys, we got to go through stacks of old National Geographic magazines and nature related books. 🙂
To me, Christopher Hitchens was to the left what William F. Buckley was to the right, a great intellect that could articulate his positions from his own thoughts, rather than simple repeat a mantra. The world is worse off without him.
love the quote 🙂
wonderful photo, great composition!
You are so kind Evelyn. Wonderful that you enjoyed this post.
The quote is so true. Dogs rule, even though I have two cats. Your image is wonderful.
No..it’s cats rule, dogs drool ! LOL ! Thank you so very much for your kind words.
Just had to share. My four year old walked by the computer while I was looking at your photo. She said, “What’s that?” A marble. “Why’s there a marble in a potato field.” Kids! They have such a unique perspective on the world. Your picture is now a lasting memory for me. Thanks!
When I read this, of course I laughed out loud. That is brilliant, and what a great kid moment you had with your daughter. Thank you so very much for sharing this with me. I should send you a print ! If you want one or at least a clean jpg of it, email me at bellaremyphoto@aol.com
Emily
Creative, expressive photograph ~ love the marble concept. Great coupling with this perfect quote.
Thank you so much Mary. This project 365 is really challenging me to be creative. Making something out of nothing.
Excellent creativity with the capture and setting.
Thank you so very Todd. I had great fun browsing through your blog and seeing your beautiful portfolio. As Lyn says “Great Stuff”
Thanks so much for the comments and review; you have a large portfolio of amazing; “creative” set of work that only comes from talent; you have the gift of eyesight. Thanks for connecting here @ WordPress.
You truly are too kind Todd. Thank you so very much for your wonderful compliment. What can I say? I love life and finding the connection that makes us human. It’s a pleasure meeting you and look forward to sharing much more with you in the future. Who knows..maybe even a photo field trip. 🙂
Oh, how I miss my dogs! I feel like crying sometimes.
That is so sad Fatima ! Anyway to get a dog into your life somehow? Maybe dog sitting or fostering? Surely there is some way to enjoy them again.
lol i have both a dog and a cat and agree
Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting ! I hope to see you back soon. Bella
Lol… awesome quote and sooooo true! 😀
Thank you so much Ian!
I love that quote.
We have a cat, and technically he is supposed to be my youngest daughters, she got him for her birthday about 10 years ago, but she get so frustrated because he always comes to me, and I tell her that is because I feed him. Cats don’t love, they will go to the person who feeds them.
Being such a cat lover I can’t even begin to tell you how much I LOVE this, Emily! And it’s going to be fun – this weekend I hope to set down here at the computer and go back thru’ some of your older posts as well as posts from other new blogs I started following recently from your list of Follows. A Blog Fest of sorts, and I am ready for it!
You are a crazy child you know that? Search on my blog “Cat & Mouse.” It’s a great story.
Cat and Mouse, will do, Emily, thanks! 🙂
