Fog
A full day of fog sits over the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Mysterious, but yet enveloping, the fog remains through the evening.
It should have been a full-day of photographing the fog on the water, but instead I chose to play with the ponies. I have been a five-day exercise restriction due to chronic bronchitis, so was anxious to get back to the barn.
Returning home, I knew I had to at least quickly capture a few images of the fog on the river. Using my iPhone 4s, I took these images quickly. Bringing them into Lightroom 3.6, from iCloud which is nothing short of magic, I began to play with them.
Using some of the lightroom presets, I added light grain, light vignettting, and adjusted the clarity and tone of these images. I tried to make them black and white, but the fog got lost without some color. I particularly like this series of photos. Amazing what creative work can be done with a simple iPhone and some post processing.

Fog make things calm – we sometimes needs that… ‘hahaha’
My favorite is the last one, it’s so posetive relaxing I think… 😉
It has been a wonderfully serene day. I’m hoping it’ll still be when I wake up in the morning.
Love captures in the fog – just adds another element – thanks for sharing:) Happy Monday!
So true..the fog today was amazing. We never get fog like this here.
Beautiful, moody images. Fog is special when the scenery makes it so.
It truly was a special fog and made the day magical.
Beautiful and well done. It has been foggy all day here in NC mountains as well. Your images are magnificent.

Love Carl Sandburg. Perfect for this post 🙂
You actually know who Carl Sandburg is? That’s amazing ! I’m having fun discovering poetry to go along with some of these photos. They really do capture the spirit of the image.
Thank you for sharing.Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Beautilful and mysterious photos, Emily. Hope you are soon completely well again. Take care. 🙂 xx
You are too kind Sylvia. This bronchitis has been dragging on for over a month now. I’m looking forward to being able to breathe normally again. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Superb images…really enjoyed looking at these…fog makes everything so mysterious
Reminds you a little bit of your home? I’d imagine you see fog quite a bit.
I *really* like fog photos. These are terrific Emily!
Fog is really awesome isn’t it. Truly magical. So happy you liked these so much Phil!
You have magically combined the soft diffusion of fog without losing the detail that makes the fog mysterious – amazing, you are so creative. I would love to learn more about how you do what you do?!
This is so easily done with being at the right place at the right time. I got really lucky, wonderful lighting in the afternoon fog. This was just a little iPhone, so I know you can do it too!
Timing and lighting does help, but I think you are being far too humble about your abilities and aptitude 😉
My wife finally upgraded to the iPhone 5 from her 3Gs and I keep encouraging her to use the camera. She hasn’t. It’s funny, to me the camera would be the best thing about that phone. But to her, an afterthought. Anyway… Nice job with this picture!
Picture(s)!
Thank you so much Rick ! I wish I have the iPhone 5, but I haven’t maxed out the memory yet of my current one. I bet she would have a blast taking photos with hers.
I love wandering in the fog–beautiful and peaceful.
Fog creates another world in the regular world that we live in. A place to wander and contemplate. Thank you!
So lovely…. I want to live here. Ethereal!
Got a room for you!
Beautiful images Emily. I love foggy images. We didn’t have much fog last winter, but hopefully this next one I will get more.
I really was a turkey and should have gone and taken photographs all day, it was an awesome fog the entire day. Hope you get to enjoy some fog once it cools down a bit down there.
