No Sunrise – No Moonset

This morning was a pre-dawn departure for a Naptown Photo meetup groupin Annapolis. The moon was full last night, and its setting was to be perfectly along the lighted Annapolis capital dome.

Alas, it was fully overcast in the early morning hours, and not only was there no view of the moon setting, the sunrise was also hidden by cloud cover. It was still a great opportunity to meet other local photographers and share a common interest.

The best part was having a wonderful breakfast an Annapolis’s icon restaurant Chick & Ruth’s Delly. Featured on Man vs. Food, where they serve a 6 pound milkshake and 1 1/2 pound sandwich.

A place where they remember what it is like to be an American, and the Pledge of Allegiance is said throughout the restaurant at 8:30 a.m. to start the day off right.

Even it was cold and overcast this morning, it was still a great way to start the day.

  1. Photo meet up! that sounds neat 🙂 I have yet to actually meet any of the folks I blog with lol! it would be interesting If i did one day. The night shot is absolutely beautiful…!

  2. Nice pics! I especially like the night shot with all the lights, very pretty.

A meet up does sound pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing meetup.com, I’m thinking maybe I’ll have a look at it too. Did you all take photos together then? Sorry to hear you missed the moon. I was lucky last night where I’m at as it wasn’t overcast and I was able to make use of the full moon myself. Hopefully you’ll have better luck next time.

    Take care.

  3. I love the lights and the sail boat!

It’s a shame that you couldn’t see the sunrise or moon setting.

I vowed at one time to never attend another Meetup outing, but you may be persuading me to change my mind.

    • You know me..finding a silver lining in everything. I still thought it was cool. Although a postcard picture of the full moon over Annapolis Capital dome would have been awesome. Perhaps next year.

Meetups aren’t bad, you just need to find the right one. Although I’m with you, being solo is better most of the time. You cover more ground faster.
