2013 Project 365

2013 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

Madison Square Garden can seat 20,000 people for a concert. This blog was viewed about 66,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Madison Square Garden, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

2013 was a whirlwind of a year. Embarking on a Project 365 photography project, along with Rebecca Budd of Clan Mother and Perpetua The Seeker.

We have grown in our separate ways through the year, but yet grown closer because of the hard work and self discovery a Project 365 creates. They have been incredible supporters and amazing inspiration during this journey, and for that I am eternally grateful for their friendship.

But the journey wouldn’t have meant anything if it wasn’t for the dedicated readers and followers of Hoofbeats & Footprints. Because of your likes and comments I was able to learn what people are more interested in seeing and reading. There are few outstanding followers and commenters that deserve an incredible THANK YOU for all of the support and encouragement.

In particular, one reader stands out: Quiet Solo Pursuits is a kindred spirit that wanders the earth in search of natural beauty in his surroundings. Somehow he managed to keep up with my daily posts and faithfully commented.

But he’s not the only one that kept me motivated. “The Seeker” and then the black duck Le Drake Noir came in second and third, with Rebecca of Clanmother came in a close fourth.

Let’s not forget the marsh and the beautiful birds and jurassic park style alligators that Phil Lanoue shares on his blog.

How these people managed to be such wonderful bloggers and still keep up with other people’s blogs astounds me. How I wish I had the time and energy they have to be so supportive and creative as they have been this past year.

There are so many others to thank that I don’t know where to even start. You know who you are. You’ve become wonderful friends and great commenters and I am so fortunate to have you in here.

I’d like to extend a New Year’s Day gift to the first five people that would like an 8 x 10 print of their choice from this year’s images. Just drop a line and we’ll get it worked out.

Even though 2013 is officially over, as you can tell there were days I took off during the year, so there are twelve more days left of my Project 365. I’ll keep trucking for the next two weeks. And after that? Who knows what will happen.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !! Bella

  1. Thanks for the shout out! It’s easy to keep up with your blog, it is one of the most enjoyable to follow that there is! As to how I find the time, that’s easy too, I have no life. πŸ˜‰ Well, other than wandering around outside with a camera (or two) looking for nature to photograph.

Congratulations on a very good year! I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with for 2014 and beyond!

    • Your guess is as good as mine for what 2014 will bring for this blog. Sometimes I want to quit, other times just make it a few times a week. Either way, its transformed from what I wanted it to be from the beginning. That’s all good though.

You do have a life ! You work don’t you?? That somehow gets in the way with having fun. It is truly my honor to have you as a friend and fellow blogger.

  2. Emily — Congrats on your 66k hits during ’13. You’ll top that easily in ’14, I’m sure. I’d love to showcase a framed photo from a world-renowned lens crafter like you. If one of the first five, let me know and I’ll start driving in the nail! Buon Anno e buona fortuna in 2014.

  3. Did I really talked that much, Emily! Gawd, i thought i am a quiet person. Mama mia, here I go again. 66K only? I’m sure there are a lot more that are just too darn shy to leave their footprints in your blog. As for me, I have front seat, my own little box to enjoy your journey. 12 more steps, Emily! Mine is close (for now) but will maintain the view to savour each and every step until your reach 365! Happy New Year! /seeker.

  4. What a wonderful post! What a wonderful adventure we’ve been on and still are!
