Arriving at the beach at Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge this Ruddy Turnstone was running in and out of the surf. A curious lad he was and came rather close to me. He then stopped and posed so that I could capture this shot.
This little one winters in Florida but spends summers high on the northern American continent.

He is much more innocent than the gator. He is a Ruddy Turnstone. Took me 20 minutes to ID him. 🙂

I love sea birds too, but really only saw 5 on my trip at the beach. Between limited time and super high winds, the birds were scarce.
Good job getting this shot of the little cutie and getting him ID’d.
The little shore birds drive me crazy. Occassionally someone will ask me…”what are those little brown birds?”
I generally answer…”They are little brown birds.”
Or, of course the really tiny ones are just ‘peeps’. 😀
Hi Phil ! It took me 20 minutes to figure out who he was. I’m now stuck on some type of hen/grebe that I found in Gainesville. Still haven’t ID’d it.
