Arriving at the beach at Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge this Ruddy Turnstone was running in and out of the surf. A curious lad he was and came rather close to me. He then stopped and posed so that I could capture this shot.
This little one winters in Florida but spends summers high on the northern American continent.

This one is harmless in comparison with the croc. Is this a sandpiper?
Weird..I thought I had responded to you correctly, but see that it was thrown down further in the comments section. This is a Ruddy Turnstone and he was adorable.
amazing! could you please check out my photo blog? I started it a few days ago, I think your photos are amazing!!!!

Figured that out when I wandered over there. Thanks!
sorry, meant to write http://www.happybumblebee.wordpress.com 🙂
He is much more innocent than the gator. He is a Ruddy Turnstone. Took me 20 minutes to ID him. 🙂
Lover of the sea birds and this one is a cutie:) Enjoy the Beach!
I love sea birds too, but really only saw 5 on my trip at the beach. Between limited time and super high winds, the birds were scarce.
Good job getting this shot of the little cutie and getting him ID’d.
The little shore birds drive me crazy. Occassionally someone will ask me…”what are those little brown birds?”
I generally answer…”They are little brown birds.”
Or, of course the really tiny ones are just ‘peeps’. 😀
Hi Phil ! It took me 20 minutes to figure out who he was. I’m now stuck on some type of hen/grebe that I found in Gainesville. Still haven’t ID’d it.
What a cutie!! Great picture 🙂
I wish I could have brought him home with me, he was totally following me and checking me out. Perhaps wondering if I had food.
Yeah, too cute!!!
🙂
Awww…
Adorable right?
Lovely bird… 🙂
A smart lovely bird too for wintering in Florida. He lives on the frozen tundra during the summer.
Nice shot! Great detail on the feathers.
Thank you so much Tricia! I’m hoping to one day have fantastic birding photos. It’s hard work!
Awwww what a cutie-patootie!!! Such a lovely little portrait..
Have you seen one of these? Or do you always live in the swamp?
It’s funny you ask!! I’m SO INCREDIBLY behind on my posting… But the week before last, I helped in a beach clean-up, and have some adorable shorebirds. 🙂
I love your photograph of the croc. I would’ve been way too scared to take a picture.
Though I don’t have a photograph of a croc I do have a couple photographs of birds and I would love for you check them out! My website is santorophoto.wordpress.com
