In the late summer in the northeastern corner of Maryland, acres and acres of happy faces stand blooming and sharing their cheer. Located in Harford County, Clear Meadow Farm plants nearly 300 acres of sunflowers for harvesting. A popular site for nature lovers and photographers, these fields of smiling faces are happy to see anyone who cares to visit.
Just a few miles south of a well known historical home of Ladew Topiary Gardens which is considered to be one of the top five gardens in the United States, these fields captured the essence of happiness.
All of these bright blossoms faced east towards the rising sun.
An artist’s dream of a subject. Something brilliant, something happy, something so naturally expressive.
Wish you could have been there with me to become enraptured with such happy joy.

Sunflowers always makes me smile, it’s a happy flower indeed – great shots… 😉
Ladew really is wonderful and is world renowned for its topiary gardens. The light was mid-day and quite harsh but I did get some photos of it. Thought of you when I posted the smiley face!
Le Drake Noir alias professor Tournesol (french for sunflower) from ‘Tintin’ – it’s a beautiful flower and call for a happy smile… 😉
Whenever I see the sunflower, I know that there will always be sunshine somewhere in the world. I will keep this memory for February when Vancouver is covered in rain. Thank you for the lovely post.
Vancouver ! Now that sounds like it would have an interesting winter. I’ll have to remember to send you a bouquet of sunflowers to brighten your day then. There really is something so cheerful about these flowers.
Ha! That’s great! Excellent!
Thank you Phil ! Not quite a bird or an alligator though…
