It was nearly five years ago when I began this blog “Hoofbeats and Footprints.” A dear friend of mine had passed away, but she had written a blog about her life in Sweden and the love of family. Her family printed the blog into a small book and that book inspired me to step into the world of blogging.
At the beginning I thought I would be talking about horses, Equitrekking, and hiking. Over time though “Hoofbeats and Footprints” has evolved into a nature and wildlife photography blog due to my photographic endeavors.
This has been a wonderful place to share my explorations, and experiences in a variety of settings. Through WordPress, I have made many friends worldwide and it has opened doors that I never thought possible.
I’ve managed to present a post nearly daily with a total of 1266 posts to date with 109,232 visitors and 280,891 views. The numbers are staggering, and the support of fellow WordPress bloggers have encouraged me to continue sharing my world.
Recently, a dear friend and superb photography mentor – Lynford Morton – asked me if I would be willing to be interviewed to talk about my experience as a photography blogger.
Lynford Morton of Shutterbug Life offers free weekly podcasts on a variety of photography subjects. Recently he’s been encouraging his readers to begin a photography blog and thought of me because I’ve had my blog for several years.
It’s amazing how one may think they really don’t know much until someone sits down and talks with them about their experience. This is what I discovered when Lynford interviewed me for this podcast.

You are always so kind to me Perpetua. I think of you and hope all is well with you. I’m grateful for having this opportunity to share my story.
I’ve been following you for some years now…and, being you’re close, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting you and friending you on FB. And I’ve loved your blogs and photos all along. But I know what you mean about evolving. I started on blogspot doing gardening stuff and then moved to wordpress intending to blog about birding adventures and maybe some gardening….now I’m blogging about birds, gardens, wildflowers, travels, and lately, churches. I do not have the followers that you do but I do have a some faithful readers that I love. It’s an adventure all by itself. Evolution is great!
And I’m so grateful to have you in my life Joan. Your kind and generous means the world to me. Indeed life is short and we should treasure every moment. Happy to hear you’re also growing along with your blog. Hugs! Emily

You’re most welcome and thanks for your support too 😊. I find the photographic community on WP a generous and supportive bunch. I just struggle sometimes to keep up with the amount of new posts from those I follow, which means I don’t get chance to comment as much as I would like.
I perfectly understand and struggle with the same issue as well. I’ve mentioned this before with my followers and gave them the choice to not comment and they liked that I kept their ability to say something. I wish I had time to read the new posts, so what I’m finding is that if I post less on my blog, that gives me time to browse. 🙂 Good luck Mark.
Five years! How awesome Emily. I feel like a baby blogger in comparison having only been blogging for about 18 months. But I can’t begin to tell you how much I love it. Congats on all your achievements and I wish you all the very best blogging into the future. 🙂
You are truly too kind. To tell you the truth, I’ve gotten a little burnt out this year. I’m spending more time with the photography teaching thing and it zaps my energy and I’m actually shooting less than I’m used to. I enjoy sharing my stories, so am now posting less but more in depth with what I’m doing. It’s a work of progression. Now I need to figure out how to download the whole blog for my personal archives.
