A charming juvenile Common Tern waits patiently among the grass. Laying on the soft sand on Nickerson Beach, Long Island, New York, I waited patiently with him.
Attending a wonderful three-day photography workshop with Denise Ippolito, she encouraged me to think simple, think bright, and think low.
The workshop was intensive, but all inclusive with five field shoots, and three in-class post processing and image review sessions. It was hard to keep up and what quiet time was given helped to recharge for the next outing.
It’s rare to find a photography coach who has such passion for their craft and is truly gifted with their artistry. Tie this talent together with a bubbling and energetic personality that is infectious. Denise is generous with her knowledge and provides positive encouragement for photographers of all levels.

She also offers several Several eBooks for photography for purchase, so for those that are unable to attend any of her workshops, can take their time and learn from a true master.

It’s not the camera, it’s the photog. Go to a workshop ! Who cares what you’re shooting with? I’ve seen awesome pics with a cell phone or a point and shoot.

‘Having a blast this year’ for sure! That’s another fine capture.
‘Think simple, think bright, think low.’ These are great words of advice. I will use them! I intuitively have always gotten down on my knees or stomach for photographing shore birds, or tried to get above (upstairs window?) with canopy birds because it just gets their personalities much better. Bird photography was probably helped by the same methods for photographing children. Get on their level, run when they run (slower shutter!), and tell their a story with a single shot.
Haven’t commented for ages….luv the new logo, super step up. Luv what I’m hearing about your training experiences. Photos are super…just a tad bit better than the wonderful work you’ve done before. Hope you don’t change the beauty and wonder of your heart and forget us mere mortals! 🙂
