Stuck in a Rut

The past month and a half has been filled with holidays, travel, and entertaining. It hasn’t left me much time to do what I love to do, which is explore and capture my discoveries.

Instead I feel like I’m constantly trying to catch up with my long to-do list. What I’d much rather be doing is, laughing at ducks slipping on ice:

Or watch an elegant Tundra Swan look, well..not so elegant:

I could even get down and dirty with a cute Horned Lark.

Instead, the little free time that I’ve had has been spent at the barn taking care of my old mare, Remy Martin. She’s a picky princess and she makes caring for her more than a challenge.

Add to being in a rut, I am heading this Thursday for surgery which will be putting me out of commission for several weeks. Recovery will drive me crazy As I won’t be able to do what I love to do – ride horses, hike, bird with my hefty lens for most likely two months, They say it’ll be worth it. Or let’s hope it will be.

So I’m scheming for a couple of outings before Thursday and hopefully will have something new to share. For now, you’re just going to have to blame it on the ponies. It’s all their fault.

  1. Can I ever relate to you, not enough time to do what I need to do, wanting to write more, wanting to find another teaching position for next year, trying to get my berry farm going and to clear enough land for goats and chickens…………………

  2. Here’s hoping and praying that your surgery is effective and cures what ails you!! Love the photos – especially the Horned Lark. Just love those little birds!

    • Appreciate your kindness Judy. Indeed, it should help me in the long run. Just have to suffer through the recovery. Horned Larks – I find them in the Eastern Shore. I’ve yet to find one on this side of the bay.

  3. I always feel so out of sorts after the whirlwind of the holidays, too. I’m such a creature of habit, and it drives me nuts having my routine interrupted so! I love the shots you’ve managed to get, though, especially the ducks slipping on the ice. Too cute.

Best of luck with your surgery as well. Take care of yourself! That’s the fastest road to recovery.

    • Ok PHEW ! And I thought I was the only one getting my panties in a wad cuz my routine and home was interrupted. After over a week I lost it. These are older shots – I may be able to get some this week before Thurs as it’ll be bitter cold this week.

You’re right – rest well, eat well. recover well. Hugs!

    • I really do too Fatima. But the more I read, the more I find I’ll most likely be down for the count for at least six weeks. Won’t be able to ride for at least to months. At least it’s wintertime right? Thank you so much for your loving support.

  4. I wrote the same caption in my head for the swan – lol. Wishing you the very best of luck with your surgery and hoping you are out and about doing those things you love well before the doctor’s predictions!

  5. I wish you a speedy recovery!
I’m sure you planned all kinds of fun things for your recovery. . Things like, organize all your photos, read books, pedicures. . All such F U N! 😉
Seriously, get well soon, we’ll miss you!

    • Sleep..sleep…sleep. It’s a beautiful thing ! That and Netflix. I did pull out the playing cards as I used to play a lot when I was younger with my mom. Time to start it up again with a good friend. Thank you so much for your humor and reality. You know me..I’ll find something to shoot even if it almost kills me. 😉

    • You are so kind Johnny Bs Girl. I’m going to do what I can to get out and shoot a little. Even if it is with a little camera. Will miss everyone here, but then again it gives me much more time to visit everyone’s blog and enjoy all of the lovely work and creativity that is out there.
