All good things come to those that wait. Seems that Sunshine has mastered the art of sitting still as a statue under the bird feeder waiting for our feathered friends.
Surely I could take lessons from her as while waiting for the birds to come in, I fidget. I fidget a lot. Sort of like this special Red Breasted Nuthatch that has moved into the garden this week.
I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve seen this lovely and I feel truly blessed with his presence. See, good things do come to those that wait.
As always, beautiful shots π
Thank you so much Andy. Evidently this sighting was a big deal and the local birders were thrilled to see these captures. Who knew?
I would be among them for sure lol π
π
Little Ms. Sunshine and a Bird…. Please keep the Sun away from the birdie… Love that lines on it’s head.
Sunshine is a good girl and just admires them. She’s too much a creature of comfort to put any effort in for hunting. π
Emilly, May I use one of your hummer photos credit to you? Thanks, Perpetua.
But of course – Should I send you one?
Thank you, I’ll just use one of your photos in your post. Have a good day.
Superb !
Thanks Jocelyn!
You must not have been fidgeting too much, you were able to get some awesome photos of the nuthatch!
As you know, being quick on the draw got the shot. A few minutes and off he was. Haven’t seen him today. Supposedly there’s an irruption of them this winter. Keep your eyes peeled for them too.
Your cat is just as pretty as the birds, but oh, so treacherous in her intent. I knew an elderly lady who had an interest in feeding wild birds, but had no feeder. She scattered the seed on the ground in front of her living room window, and her cat became fatter and fatter and…
LOL ! That is indeed funny. Actually Sunshine is harmless. She just sits there and likes to watch them. A true bird watcher. π
I have been told that all calico cats are female. Is that true?
I think I’ve heard that too, but don’t know the truth. Thanks Beth.
I watch my cat on the balcony all the time. They have such patience when they are eyeing up a potential dinner date.
I wish I could send a photo in this response. Our grandchildren sent a photo of their two toms curled up together in a rocker. Toms usually fight, but these two are best buddies, way too fat and such scoundrels!
That sounds just too adorable ! Love kitties!
Of course I have to ask then Ben..does your cat speak to the birds? Sunshine doesn’t I think it’s the funniest thing that cats do.
My cat speaks to birds, flies and small lego figures that he is hunting.
Now that is too funny Ben.
Believe it or not there is a “language” that cats speak at different times. Our elder son used to be able to make the same sounds his cat made when he was stalking something. Please don’t think I am weird. It is perfectly true.
Yeah beth I have read that as well, it is a kind of chirping. Not weird unless you think you can understand what the cat is saying.
He’s a cutie. I get many of the normal ones. Love how they run up and down the trees
I was watching one today running backwards down the tree. Crazy cute birds aren’t they? Thanks Ilex.
Great photos of that nuthatch. Yes, patience is a virtue. π
I know you’re a master at it as you get fantastic bird shots in Texas. I envy your variety. And that bobcat – WOW !
What a beautiful bird and an accomplished photograph!
Ah mi amor con tanto carino. You are too very kind and I am humbled. Cool bird but haven’t seen him since. π¦
Wonderful! I love our nuthatches π They’re great characters to watch. How lovely to see this variety with that distinctive white stripe on the face!
Isn’t these Red Breasted the coolest? Have you seen the brown headed nuthatches also? They sound like squeaky toys – really funny and super adorable. Thanks Sarah.
