I must admit, I believe I’m suffering from bird AD&D. There’s not a flutter in a tree that doesn’t cause me to stop in my tracks and look. What could it be? Is it something yellow? Is it perhaps blue?
With a camera, I’m able to capture these fleeting movements and freeze the motion. True magic happening right before my eyes.
I fell into birding and wildlife photography entirely by accident. Blame it on the eagles. It’s all their fault. Can’t wait to see them again this winter. In the meantime, let’s enjoy the birds of summer.
Tonight’s the night for my live interview with PhotoCoach Pro and Shutterbug Excursions. For more details, see my previous post here:
Hope to hear you there!

There is nothing holier in this life of ours than the first consciousness of love, the first fluttering of its silken wings.

Wonderful photographs
Thank you so very much Victor!
Just beautiful, as always!! Loved the yellow bird on the dead Coneflower and that Hummingbird….awesome!! Hoping to stop by tonight for a listen!!🙋
You are so sweet, and such a generous compliment. Not sure if you made it last night, I was last, so it was well into an hour before they got to me. A lot of people had dropped out by then. 😦 It was fun though!
Beautiful shot!
Thank you Black.
Do not ever stop suffering from it. Outstanding photographs and I for one get giddy when you show up in my reader. More. x
Oh I hope you still feel that way today, as I had a repeat of the goldfinch. Didn’t get much of a chance to get out and shoot something new today. Thank you so very much for your kind comment. Emily
Fantastic photos. I love the bird with the worm.
Thank you ! Must admit that is a pretty awesome capture. He has such a pissed off look on his face. 🙂
I really like the shot of the goldfinch on the coneflower and the one of the hummingbird, but they are all wonderful shots. I started photographing birds last fall when the insects and flowers disappeared and I can testify to the fact that it can become addictive.
That is super exciting Mike. It’s always great to meet another nature/bird photographer. Started following, so look forward to seeing some great things. 🙂
Absolutely fantastic captures! Love the second image of the bird with the caterpillar in it’s beak and the humming bird is wonderful! 🙂
You are so very kind. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment.
Wonderful!
Thanks Crista!
You birds, me wildflowers, which have been rare here the last three years in drought. Birds just fill the gap between flowers for me. Not that I don’t like them, obviously I do, I take enough photos of them. You take awesome bird photos Emily.
Thanks Robert ! I’ve been working on it for three years now. I think I’m really starting to get the hang of it. Can’t wait to see what develops this next year. 🙂
You have certainly worked your magic here! Love seeing these cute little characters through your lens!
Can’t say how much I appreciate your kind words. So happy too that I haven’t bored you yet. 🙂
Beautiful images, especially like the hummingbird in flight.
Thank you very much Beth. Appreciate your generous comment.
There are few things cuter than wild hummers!
Those gold finches are pretty close though. Now to hope to be somewhere new to see different hummers. Perhaps a trip to Costa Rica is due. 🙂
Great shots….very sharp and clear.
What a fantastic compliment Mark. Thank you!
Beautiful captures!
Thank you sweet girl. You are so kind. 🙂
I can SO relate, Emily – my husband won’t let me drive anymore because I “tend” to watch the BIRDS instead of the ROAD! 😉
Oh you do make me laugh. In fact..when the raptors are back, I’ve been known to go to a screeching halt on the highway. Bad driving. 🙂
Your photos of the birds are fabulous, by the way, so I am ALL for your Bird AD&D! 🙂
Can you imagine the both of us birding? It would be birding craziness. 🙂
Oh they are all so cute. Wonderful photos of them too. I too fell into birding and finally joined a birding group to get to the best locations.
That is a great idea, as I have done the same as well. Although I prefer to go by myself as it’s less disruption to the birds.
Awesome especially the caterpillar, hummers drinking and a hummer thinking “what you looking at, huh?”. This is a good ADHD, Emily.
But not when you’re driving !! OH!! What’s that??? Thank you so much sweetie !
Your goldfinch and hummingbird are lovely! I draw/paint through the alphabet, and I’m wondering if I have your permission to draw these photos for my blog. Of course, I’d give you credit, and post a link to your blog.
This sounds lovely and I’ll be more than happy to share these images for your inspiration. Looking forward to seeing your artistic rendition. Emily
Thank you so much! Two of my favorite birds. And thanks also for the follow!
