An early morning rise to greet the morning overlooking Northeast Harbor. Well known for the classic antique wooden boats, outlandishly fancy Hinckley boats, and lobster boats, the harbor holds many treasures.
When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.

The colours and reflections are just amazing – love love love!
Thank you so much. Amazing how glorious those golden hours are. I need to get out early more often.
so wonderfully artistic….I can smell the salt water from here…
Truly a seaside village with the scent also of Balsam Firs.
I love the wavy reflections in the last shot. It kind of gives it a Monet like quality. Beautiful shots Emily!
Thank you so much Michael. I really do like these antique boats. They’re pretty special.
Treasures indeed! Fantastic images!
There are tons of old antique boats here and they all are so well kept. Whoever keeps up their woodwork is certainly a busy beaver. Thank you.
Oh I LOVE these! The first and last photos are my favorites … nice job!!
Thank you so much Paige. You picked my two favorites as well.
Wow great shots!!
Wow back at you D.A. What a generous compliment. Thank you so much.
The brightwork on the last boat is exceptional, and it’s wonderful to see that the owners maintain it as it should be!
You would be amazed. All of these wooden boats brightwork is in perfect condition. I know what it takes to maintain something like this and it’s an annual job. You would love the antique boats here. Most of them are from the 1920-1940’s.
There are a couple of Chris Craft festivals, for lack of the correct term, held in several Michigan cities each summer, I do love getting a look at the old ones.
Fabulous images, Emily. 🙂
Thank you so much. Some days just work out beautifully.
You’ve created the “perfect storm” with your boat photos. Great, great shots and virtual darkroom handiwork.
You are so sweet Tom. So happy you really liked these images. Although no storms that day, just clear blue skies.
One of my favorite places! I can’t wait to see more. I hope you see some more great sunsets!
Acadia would be right up your alley. Camping, hiking, nature. Who could ask for more???
I’ve been to Acadia once before and I really loved it. Looking forward to getting back again soon. For now, I’ll live vicariously through your beautiful photos.
There is a beautiful calmness about photographing boats in the morning and I think you have shown that beautifully.
Thank you so much Leanne ! I had such amazing lighting that morning, as evidenced with the photos. Proves it’s worth a 4am wake up call. I’ve been using the 500mm lens to get close to the boats, and it is such a fantastic lens.
