These mourning doves were too funny to not share them with you this afternoon. Clearly someone had been caught red handed.
Thanks to a kind soul, I was able to go with several other birders to watch some Red-Wing Crossbills this morning. A rare bird for our area, it was sweet to see these special beauties. Of course I wanted to share them with you.
Those little nimble musicians of the air,
that warble forth their curious ditties,
with which nature hath furnished them to the shame of art.Β

Wonderful photos. Perfect caption for the first one. π
I know..I just couldn’t resist ! Thank you so much.
That Mourning Dove image is too funny! Great images Bella. Love the assortment of birds here and that golden light!
Thanks Soonie. It has been known that I get up before dawn now and again, but don’t get used to it! π
Your blog has gone to the birds – love it – great captures – the doves are priceless:) I should take out my camera more with the birds in our hood just hilarious at times. Have a Great Day!
Oh you should Renee ! I’m calling this year my “Big year” with birding. Next year..who knows?
Bird brains? They are the smartest little creatures. Ah, lights up my day. Thank you.
It is my pleasure, indeed these feathered friends are such treasures.
They are special, the photos are really great.
Thanks Charlie ! I loved seeing them.
Soooooo beautiful shots π

Very much did thank you π

Thank you so much Carol. Appreciate you stopping by and commenting. Hope to see you back soon. Bella
Wonder why we fascinate so over birds? Since I was just a wee one, always loved them immensely. Thanks for the great post and the great pictures! Have a nice evening!
It’s become a crazy obsession with me this year. I’ve been sharing my experience in learning about birding and birders and now I’ve become one. Oh jeez…. Thanks Cissy!
The mourning doves are a hoot, the crossbills are a species I’m still after, great post!
Do you get crossbills in your area? They are rare for us, so it was quite special to get both of them this winter.
Glad you enjoyed the penitent dove. π
Both species of crossbills are rare visitors to this area, I’ve seen the red ones, but never the other species. I never thought to take photos when I did see the red ones, as they were visitors to my parents feeder, and my dad shot hundreds of photos of them.
Lovely shots!!! Dove shot is awesome!!!
Thank you so much Rexlin. Great seeing you.
Beautiful photos… π
Agree looks like the pigeons has a serious talk… “lol”
Appreciate it Drake. If I only spoke Dove to know what they were saying.
i like the beautiful light and the colours in those pictures!
happy easter to you, emily π
You are too kind Evi. Thank you so much for the Easter greetings and Happy Easter to you as well.
you seem to have a wide variety of birds there – larger than we have in this area – plus you travel – i limit myself by only traveling within a 20 mile radius
and beautiful captures – and it is spring – so the mourning doves may be a bit shy being busted for springtime activities
LOL ! You are too funny Will. Indeed, I am willing to travel a bit for birds this year. I’m calling it my “big year” so why not? Not too crazy over the top though. Assateague is next on my list.
There is something about doves that I just love, and this photograph of them is beautiful.
I agree with you Lisa. They are so warm and fuzzy somehow. Cooing away. Thank you so much and have a wonderful Easter weekend.
I just love your birds! Such variety.
Thank you so much. I’ve been having great fun trying to find them. It’s like going out on a treasure hunt.
That dove pair is funny. Those crossbills are cool little birds, never saw them before.
I love that I have seen a bird that you haven’t. You are truly the bird whisperer.
Stunning shots which warmed my heart. Such sweethearts. Sharon
