“Like a red morn that ever yet betokened,
Wreck to the seaman,
tempest to the field,
Sorrow to the shepherds,
woe unto the birds,
Gusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to herds.”
William Shakespeare, Venus and Adonis

There’s to be a storm coming in this afternoon. As they say “Red Sky in the morning, sailor’s take warning.” This spectacular color only lasted about five minutes. Happy I had the alarm set for an early start today, otherwise I would have missed this glorious sunrise.

WOOOOOOW!!!!!
Thanks for your reaction Ruben.
Np!
Fantastic sunrise capture, Emily. That sky certainly does looks somewhat ominous.
Thank you so much Sylvia. Funny thing is, the weather has been quite insignificant, regardless of the warnings.
I quite like “insignificant” weather. 🙂
LOL ! yes it was. They called for sleet and ice. We got light drizzly rain instead.
Wonderful shot!!!
Thank you so much Rexlin.
Glad you were up early to grab this terrific sunrise Emily. I’m much more of a sunset person. 🙂
Although…if the cat keeps getting me up prematurly I may be out there with you next time.
Yes, what is it about cats and waking up at 4:30am? Stupid cats, don’t they know its cold and rainy outside?
Glorious is right! That old saying holds true, there’s a storm headed your way, as it is just departing this area.
As usual, the bad part of the storm went around us, so we lucked out. All those warnings for nothing.
Breathtaking – Happy Friday:)
Thanks Renee ! Glad this took your breath away.
wow, magical indeed. Lovely!
So happy you enjoyed this Soonie.
Magical, very well captured…. 🙂
Thank you so much Drake ! Not bad for running out there in my PJ’s.
Crimson Red Firery Sunrise or Sunsets are breathing. Glad you were able to experience it.
These are so rare here. I’ve only seen one sunset with this color and none other.
Emily, this is breathtaking!!
Thank you so much Judy ! Wish you were there to enjoy it as well.
And a red sky at night is a sailor’s delight. Beautiful photo. Well worth the early morning wake-up!
I must agree this was well worth it. Luckily I can look out the window without getting out of bed to see the sunrise. 🙂
how wonderful! these colours are amazing!
have a great weekend 🙂
Thank you so much Evelyn! Hope you’re weekend is going well.
Beautiful. Bet you were glad not to miss it.
I really was, it was so beautiful and such a fleeting moment.
We watched from the corner as the heavens gathered their magenta and scarlet gauze throwing it into the winds – ah the Earth became coated in a brilliant display of color.
Fantastic photography!
Thank you so much Mary! For this one, all credit goes to Mother Nature. I just happened to have a camera ready at hand.
Fabulous! Have never witnessed one quite so red!
I’ve only seen the sky with the purple and red like this just one other time. Last summer at a sunset. It only lasts about 7 minutes. Keep an eye out, one day you’ll see one.
Whoa! Those are some awesome colours! How have I missed so many of your posts Emily? My bad… but well done.
Hi Ian, it could be that my posts aren’t coming up on your feed. It happened with Feygirl and her posts and I wasn’t seeing them. But I really do appreciate your visit today. Wish I was there to great you with a cocktail. 🙂
Yep – not coming up in my feed for sure… but I have to still make sure I visit when I realize I have not seen any posts from you for a while. mmm Cocktails… I will just have to imagine my coffee is one for now – It’s just not the same 😦 lol
OH so very true. I’ll find out how Feygirl got it fixed as the problem. thanks for giving me the heads up about it though. I bet you’re not the only one with the problem.
