It’s great to be a Florida Gator! One of many gators I found this morning on the La Cahua trail onto Paynes Prairie. At first I was excited to see my first gator. Then two more dozing on the bank. Then oh crap 7 more in the water. Is that one I see just 20 feet from me with nothing to save me from the gator? He was certainly keeping an eye on me.
For this week please bear with me in responding to your comments and commenting on your blogs. Seems that I’m not recognized when I post comments from the iPad.
Heading down to the beach tomorrow! Woo hoo!

As much as I like your pictures, 20 feet is too close for comfort. Have fun at the beach.
Lol! I so agree. A Great Blue Heron squawked and scared the dickens out of me. I thought it was the gator coming after me. I ran. lol
LOL… too funny LOL
Eek! I might be too scared to hike near these monsters. Nice shot.
At first I was ok with it, but then when walking about after about a half an hour and 20 more gators showed up to warm up in the morning, I started to panic. Especially when I saw one hiding the grass ready to attack.
It’s said that one should just run in zig zag
(change direction fast all the time)
so they can’t catch one… ‘LOL’
Very well captured… 😉
A friend of mine told me she had to do that and it worked ! I’ll try anything not to become gator bait.
Take care, Emily. I would…. 😉
Haha ! Wish you had been there so that you could protect me. Either that or I’d run faster Bente.
Cool! Have fun at beach (-;
Remind you of your Florida days Janet?
Can’t bring myself to ‘like’ this one – aligators are the stuff of my nightmares and my response would have been one of sheer terror.
Very funny Lynne. This is a perfect place to help you work through your fears. There was a boardwalk where you could see them but not be up close and personal like the trail was. You’d be safe.
Hey I know that guy! Isn’t that Larry? Oh no wait, that’s Larry’s cousin Frank.
Great pic of our pal Mr. Alligator Emily!
How ever did you guess Phil? It is Frank, and he told me to tell you to tell Larry “Hey….”
Cool Capture – Have a Great One:)
Thank you Renee! Have a great weekend!
Yikes, what a picture!! Be careful out there Emily!!
He was big..he was close….RUN !
Fabulous photo! Oh my, he is a bit intimidating – think I will go back to the swan photograph – it feels safer! 🙂
Haha ! Yes, the swans were quite domesticated. I went to visit them again and they came straight to me, hoping I had food.
Fabulous shot of this lovely!!!!!
There were so many gators there Feygirl. You would feel right at home here.
hahah what a nice face?i like them
My skin is crawling, I can’t believe you can get that close to them. Scary, very scary.
Fantastic photo, Emily. He looks quite harmless. 🙂
