Strolling down the Champs D’Elysee, along with tourists and elegant Parisians enjoying a warm spring day. Passing by the Perfumeries and designer stores we go.
Stopping at a street side cafe for a lovely little cafe au lait and croissant.
Only to be handed a check for ten Euros for the privilege of sitting in the patio and enjoying their cafe. Ooh La La, that is one expensive coffee!

I’m not sure what the exchange rate is, but ten euros isn’t much more expensive than some of the coffee shops around here are. I’ll brew my own.
I believe the rate is at least 1.50 US to 1 Euro. It was basically $15 bucks for a cup of coffee. Paying for the real estate!
Gorgeous photos as ever Bella!
May I however suggest that you change “Champ d’Elysée” with “Champs-Élysées”. When Joe Dassin sings the “Champs-Élysées” song that you quote, it does sound as if there might be a “d” in there. It’s because the final “s” at Champs is pronounced, in what we call a liaison, and ends up sounding like a”z”, like in Champs-z-Élysées. His “z” sometimes sounds like a “d”!
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve seen it spelled both ways and always wondered which one was right.
Love Paris most of all I love the Montmatre part of it, but springtime connected with Champs Élysées is great – and the coffee isn’t much more expensive than places like Copenhagen and Oslo… 🙂
Lovely photos… 🙂
Where is the cheap 7-eleven coffee anymore? Does it all have to be designer? Amazing how special coffee has become.
I’m not the right person to ask – I tasted coffee for the very first time before I was 3 and loved it and still love it – and for 15 years I was sales and marketing manager in an international coffee business… 🙂
I know, the price of coffee hurts 🙂 But it is still my favourite city!
Love the first shot.
Oh..just to sit there to see and to be seen was worth the price. Thanks Madhu and welcome back!
Maggie and I will chip in $10 each. We hear they are dog friendly over there. Maybe moose friendly too? Your photos make it look worth more than $10!
WOOF WOOF 🙂 🙂
It is true – dogs are plentiful on the streets and open air cafe’s. Perhaps Maggie can find a nice French Poodle to play with.
Beautiful photos, as always. I love Paris and you always seem to capture the spirit of the places you visit. Thank you, my dear friend. Bountiful blessings for 2013.
It is my pleasure to share these with you Lizzie and so happy that you enjoyed them. I love Paris as well and would love to go back with my better understanding of photography. Happy New Year!
Wonderful scenes of Paris Emily!
Thank you so much Phil!
oh, la la la, that must have been some coffe, Emily. Enjoyed the photos.
Ahh..I got to hob nob with the rich and famous. Worth every penny. Thanks Bente!
Ah, Paris…
I’d fork over 10 Euros for a coffee to be sitting there right now!
I would do it again in a minute. My friend however, is as cheap as they come. She was having a fit ! LOL
Very lovely! And I wouldn’t mind drinking that $10.00 cup of coffee in the little cafe!
Next time I’ll really spend time on the real estate that I paid for. Alas, the rest of Paris was calling me.
That does seem like a very expensive coffee, but I suppose you were paying more for the elegance and ambience of your surroundings, rather than the drink. 🙂
That is absolutely right ! The spot is truly priceless. To see and be seen.
Excellent shots!!!
Thank you so much Rexlin.
Ooooh la la indeed!
🙂
SOOO lovely….!!!!!
You and me..one day..Ten Euro Cafe…
When I think of that place I think of the Tour de France. It is so nice to see it as it usually looks.
If I rest here at your blog much longer, I am going to go nuts … Paris is where I really want to go. And your beautiful photos just keeps that burning desire alight! Seriously, I love them! Thanks. 🙂
HEHE..just because of your comment, stay tuned for a Paris color post.
Haha … I look forward to it!!! 🙂
