Funny how one little white house can have such a strong global impact. As the world knows, today heralds one of the more significant days in American history. American voters can exercise their right to vote and hope that their ideals and values win in today’s Presidential election.
Already the voting precincts were experiencing higher than average numbers of voters and it will be late tonight to hear the voice of the people’s majority. As Americans, we are truly fortunate to have the ability and the right to vote. Although only 65 % of American citizens invoked that right in the last Presidential elections. Here’s hoping that more Americans recognize this privilege and care enough for our country to get out and vote.
In my travels to Peru this year, I can’t help but think of the Quechua Indians today that live high up in the Andes mountains. Primarily an agricultural culture, these citizens of Peru have a difficult time to vote, both by a geographic barrier, but also a literacy barrier. In fact, colored ballot sheets have been used previously, with each color designating a political party. And even if they voted, living in such a remote area, I’m sure that whoever is President and what their policies may be would have very little impact on their lives.
Even though I waited an hour in order to place my vote, I am grateful for such a short wait to do so. Numerous third-world countries can line up for days to place their ballot.
However the election may result, I know that both candidates believe and want what is best for our country.
If you haven’t gone out and voted yet, what are you waiting for? Get out and vote now!

Well done..it certainly is a privilege to vote and when we can vote we become complacent!
The interesting thing is to see party voters vote for the party and not necessarily for the individual. But at least they’re promoting their ideals. Thanks for stopping by Lisa.
May the best president for the american people win. Almost everybody in Norway would vote for Obama, since his politics are closer to ours, but it is not up to us. It is up to all of you. π
It’s a nail biting night Bente!
As Bente describes it from Norway so it is in Denmark too – danes follows as always very much in the U.S. presidential election – and there is enthusiasm right now – danes have been waiting anxiously for our american friends choices… π
So the news is out, and the stock market is taking a crash. While it appears that there could be positive outcomes, there will be much negative results. Only time can tell.
