HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY !!

What better time than to head out with camera in hand and try to capture the exciting fireworks in the sky. While using a tripod is the best way to go to get crisp shots, some fun and creative results can be achieved by hand holding and panning with the fireworks.

Last year my neighbors had gone across state lines and brought back mortar fireworks. It was by chance that I happened to have my camera ready and had already looked up the settings on how to photograph fireworks. So I quickly ran down to the dock and shot some really fun shots.

On your adventures out for the Fourth of July celebrations, bring your cameras and use these settings:

Bulb, ISO 100-200, f/11, Daylight or Auto White Balance. Turn Auto Focus off and set the focus point to Infinity.

Play with the timing when pressing down the shutter button. Varying the time from 1 to 5 seconds can give you different results.

Enjoy the holiday week everyone and Happy Independence Day to all !

  1. I love how the second one looks like a Phoenix! Beautiful!

(But I’m not going to say what the fourth one looks like. Apparently, I’m twelve.)
