After spending three days at Conowingo Dam this week, a new respect has been developed for the elegant Bald Eagle. At one visual count, over 80 birds were in sight on Thursday, but at least 100 Bald Eagles were residing at the dam this week.
I’m getting close to being able to present my photos of the week, and share my photographic trials and tribulations with you. In the meantime, this one photo has an outstanding quantity of bald eagles all in one view. The first reader that gives me the right number of Bald Eagles in this photo will receive an 8 x 10 print of their choice.
Good luck and happy counting! Bella
And Renee from Craves Adventure Wins with the correct answer of 32 ! Congratulations ! I know it wasnβt easy.

Wow! So many Bald Eagles in one place. That’s amazing. I think I see 31, Emily. Every time I count, I get a different number. You’re such a tease! π
Not quite, but close ! Guess again.
You are sooooo close Sylvia!
I missed out because I had to go and do the dinner, and when I came back, someone had beaten me to it. π¦
Aw Sylvia, I’m so sorry you missed it. I’ve finally finished editing and about to make the photos available on my smugmug site.
Great captured… π
My guess is 17… π
LOL ! Way off Drake ! Download the photo and zoom in ! Guess again!
‘hahaha’ – I hate to be wromg…. ‘big smile’
Now I really guess 19… ‘smile’
I can’t tell you how many times I counted them. Go way up Drake !
I count their legs and take the half… π π
It’s great shoot very well captured, Emily… π
Are there 20..?
Oh you have me laughing so Drake. Nope..MORE ! Some legs you can’t see, some legs you can see, but no head. π
‘hahaha’ – bad luck to me… π
22 with white head..? π
Ah..that’s what you’re missing – there are juveniles mixed in there that are moltey brown.
I’m more a black head drake than a white head eagle… π
LOL ! Yes indeed Drake – Ok, so Renee just guessed it right. There are 32 Bald Eagles in this photo isn’t that amazing? Now the real question is..why are we counting birds in a photograph on a Friday night? We clearly have no life ! LOL
What are you talking about, this is life…. ‘hahahaha’
π π
YES IT IS ! Fun playing with overseas buddies isn’t it?
Indeed, a dane sitting in Liverpool UK friday night counting american eagles … ‘hahaha’
LOL ! Awesome Drake!
Beautiful picture!! Congratulations Renee! This was definitely not easy : )
I can’t tell you how many times I had to count it as well Judy ! and I took that picture. Thank you so much.
I was going to play it safe and say there was a *butt load* of eagles out there. π π
Cool pic Emily!
There are vultures in among the group too right? At first I thought they might be juvie eagles so it threw my count off. Guess I’ll stick with butt load then since I missed the correct answer anyway. π
LOL ! A Butt load, that is awesome ! Indeed it is a butt load of Bald Eagles. Yep, you’re right, there are turkey vultures also in the shot to help confuse things. Some eagles are in the rocks with just a head sticking out, and others are hiding behind their friends. LOVE this shot! ? So fun trying to figure out just how many there are.
And to think we were excited to see one bald eagle yesterday morning. π
I’ve been so busy with Christmas coming. I wish I had seen this sooner.
Tune in now..I just added a new post about the eagles at Conowingo
