As most of us are ready for Sandy to make landfall, just remember
‘The Old Guard’ is out there today, still guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The tomb has been guarded continuously since 1937.
This is what dedication to service is all about and their mission which they uphold with such honor.

Sending thoughts and prayers that everyone is safe!!!
Thank you so much Renee ! I’m now more worried for others in New Jersey and New York
This is amazing.
If you were here with me to experience the 50 mph wind gusts and to think of those soldiers standing in the rain and wind. They are truly honorable.
Thinking of you, Emily xx
Thank you Corinne ! I think your good thoughts are working!
quite a Regimen
It is so true Arkansas. Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting. Hope to see you back soon. Bella
Well said…
I agree. I feel for the soldiers when a huge wind gust kicks up and the rain has been relentless
honor among its citizens as held by its men in the military would really help this country pick itself up— we could use a BIG dose of honor—as an aside—one of my sons lives in Brooklyn–i hope all come thru this trial safe
How did your son manage from the storm Will? Is he all right? it is such a mess in New York tonight. Such a shame. It’ll take a long time to get things back to normal up there.
They just said something about this on World News Tonight. Those honor guards. They’re wonderful. 🙂
Their strength and dedication is truly awe inspiring.
They are out there every day regardless of the weather! Quite impressive and emotional.
Gives me a chill each time I think of them. Thanks Phil!
This gives me goosebumps. Thanks for a beautiful, thoughtful post!
It is truly my pleasure to share. We need to honor such noble soldiers.
Touching! And a matter of great pride for the country!
They are so easily forgotten. But regardless, they stand to serve and protect. Thank you Madhu!
A ideal shot to convey what it is to be dedicated and loyal.
I wish I could have been there to personally experience their strength and honor. I am humbled by this photo.
