Weekly WordPress Photo Challenge: Dreaming

Staying on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island last summer, I anxiously awaited fog to set in. Days went by with fair and beautiful weather while dreams of fog in Bass Harbor danced through my head at night.

Finally one lazy afternoon the weather quickly changed and the fog rolled in from the ocean. Not realizing that I had left the white balance on my Canon 60D on “Florescent” I rushed down to Bass Harbor with tripod in hand to capture the dreamy fog.

With the settings of ISO 200, f/22 and shutter speed of .3 seconds, this captured the surreal feel of the moment.

When bringing these photos into Lightroom 3.5, I realized the white balance mistake. As these had been shot in jpeg, my only option was to try Lightroom’s autobalance. After experimentation, I actually went back to the original white balance as the feel and mood of the photos were more evident.

I dream of another foggy afternoon at Bass Harbor so that I may watch the boats float in silky water.

  1. The last shot reminds me of the tiny island where I was born – when visiting the island at summers often raise early early early in the morning went out on the water to enjoy a beautiful sun raise – before dawn it looks like something like this… ‘big smile’

Yeah – Instead of being frightened of meeting “fools” or originals – so you would maybe use it constructively (and somewhat cynical) to make themselves better – I think I learn most of headwind – and we are probably all originals when comes down to it – hopefully … 😉

I refer, of course, not criminals here… 🙂
